I'm looking to build a squaredrop on a 6x10 or maybe 6x12. Once of my requirements is a roof rack for a roof top tent for the kids and a separate awning. Large tent folds out on passenger side and a 180degree awning on drivers.
What are ya'll using for that? Ladder racks? My googleing is showing ones that are unusually tall or have extra bars that stick up on the sides. I know it'll be a lot of weight up there so I don't think the usual yakima or thule would be sufficient.
Do you add extra bracing in the walls? I was thinking 2x2 furring strips and foam between 1/2 and 1/4 plywood for walls and ceiling.
I've contacted a couple of local utility trailer manufactures and haven't heard back. Anyone take a normal trailer and just cut the rails off and it still be stiff enough? I got a little 110v HF wire welder but don't trust myself to add anything structural with it.
