So I've got some hail damage to the aluminum roof of my trailer. We purchased the cargo trailer last summer with plans of converting it in the future. Has anyone replaced a one piece flat aluminum v nose roof with new metal or done something different like plywood covered with commercial rubber roofing? Looking for some advice before I make a decision on my own.

I certainly wouldn't go with plywood with a liquid rubber. That may work for 3-5 years, max.

A picture would help, but changing the aluminum in a "normal" teardrop wouldn't be difficult as long as the old stuff had been floated.

I don't have any pictures available right now but this is just a standard 7 wide x 16 long v-nose cargo trailer with a one piece aluminum roof that is glued to the roof trusses and then it has a trim piece attached around the edges that is secured with screws. The rubber roofing I was thinking about is similar to what would be on the roof of a factory built camper.

I don't think they put it on plywood, and keep in mind, the RV industry is known for producing junk. But maybe it'll work.

I'd contact the dealer you bought it from and see if it was built nearby. They may be able to replace the top.
Look into making a insurance claim. Again they may know of places that do this.
Most of these roofs are bare metal/aluminum glued on top of the square tube beams. Ours had a 1/8" piece of wood maybe a foot width sandwiched between the beams and aluminum to give the roof a pitch in the center so water doesn't puddle. Only on the edges the roof panel is secured down with screws and trim.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I've done some checking on the roof replacement with a couple of places and decided to take the insurance pay out and move on.
