T@B clamshell question... My sister, at age 70+ just bought her first trailer, a T@B and we are looking for a first gathering for her to go to. I know that T@Bs have a bad name in the teardrop community due to their "mini trailer hidden in a teardrop shape" image, but this one is the clamshell model with a real teardrop galley under a hatch in the back. I have Stevenson on our calendar for her to attend, but would like to add the Shasta gathering.

My sister had given up camping, but when she saw my Silver Shadow she got all excited. They had a small Motorhome and truck/camper back in the 70's and 80's although most of our family camping was with tents. The thing that she loved most about my SS was the outdoor galley, but due to health issues she had trouble getting in and out of the cabin so we started looking for something small enough for her to tow short distances by herself (only 22 miles out to the coast), but large enough for her to be able to get dressed in and have a place to sit up in when the weather gets bad. She doesn't do much long distance driving so Stevenson and LS (if allowed) will probably end up with me driving one vehicle and Peggy (SigOtr) driving the other.

Can I get a ruling, should we make reservations for her? Thanks all

You can make a reservation and not feel doubtful about it. It's not a private campground. We just kind of take over because of our numbers and the time of year. A lot of times, there are other people there with larger trailers than ours; plus, I've seen other people bring T@b clam shells to the gathering. I doubt she'll have a problem. There's usually plenty of room in many of the sites. Besides, I'd like to meet her! When you make your reservations, be sure to tell them that you're with the Tearjerker gathering so that you get the special rates.

Sharon, thanks for the info, I will check with the resort. I missed out on everything last year except 2 days of the Lk Perris gathering (before I ran into the back end of a Hummer) and Stevenson, always fun! This year still has it's challenges, but we should be able to get in some serious camping trips so life should be a lot more fun and less stressful than 2015.

Hi Larry & Peggy
So good to hear from you here on the Forum!
I was so worried we might not get to share your Birthday with you at the Gorge this year, as the IRG is on the same weekend, and much closer for you. :(
You will Love the Shasta Lake Gathering ....and so will your sister. :applause:
We hope to debut our new Teardrop "Kermit" there in site #11.
See you there my friend.

I was hoping to lure you across the border this year??
To either come to our Farm for the 3rd Annual Farm Gathering....or the 2016 Fall Crawl. ;)

really looking forward to the trip to "the great white north", also trying to figure out how to work in a trip to Tieton for this (if it happens this year)

the last couple of years it took place in late June. I figure if I could get you there you would build one.. hehe

Oh....You are the Devil!
How is it that I have never seen these????
And I have Old Car friends that live in Tieton! We go their a couple times a year??????

So....I am In!
Where do I find info on these? Do you have one? Are we building one? Looks like a team sport?? 🤔
But, Sandi is still getting over the new tractor we just picked up in Wenatchee last Thursday. 1958 Wheel Horse RJ58 (google image it) ;)

I will meet you there!

Kermit came from about 5 miles from where this video was made! 🍺

Okay Larry
Now you have to come to Shasta so we can brainstorm!
I just spent the last hour on the Cyclekart site reading about the specs for our build.
But, now I want more!
Do you know anyone who has built on of these????/
What about body parts? The ones in the video look pretty good for homebuilt.
This body fabrication takes talents most people don't have???

So we had better gather our thoughts before the Gathering!!!
Now back to Teardrop Camping, before Lydia thinks we have stolen her thread? ;)
Shasta here we come!!

I only came across these when I was scanning YouTube for vids on (of all things) airplanes built in the 20's. I couldn't find the video that was taken with a helmet cam while running around the downtown streets. It looks like fun to me, and was thinking of building a simple one after things get settled down here.

Getting back to the thread... yes, Shasta would be a great place for a season opener/planning session. I'm not sure if my sister will be up to towing her own trailer so I might have to drive her rig up and sleep in her van. I am trying to get Peggy (the hermit) to come along and/or drive our Ellie up, but it took two years for me to get her to go to Stevenson (which she is already making plans for this year) so not sure how many of us will show up. I am going to call up Antlers this week, but we are in the middle of a short trip up the coast doing our best to blow this months rent at the 7 casinos on our route, so might not get to it before Friday,

Well I had Great plans for a long day on Kermit today, so it would have even a slight chance of making Shasta......BUT!.....I am tired????? :x
Why?? Because I stayed up until 3:30 in the morning watching "CYCLEKART CONSTRUCTION" videos.
Man, I fell into this pool harder than I fell into the Teardrop quicksand.
Have a funtrip and don't gamble too much of your money away if you plan to build a CycleKart......as they are not for the faint of heart.

Thanks a lot you guys now I've been looking at them. They really do look like a fun project. The last thing I need is to start another project. It might be nice to start a post called cyclekart construction so we don't clog up Shasta's lake Gathering. I'd love to read and talk more about this just for the fun of it. Dano

Be aware that, unless they've upgraded it, (which I doubt) site#A52, sort of behind the restroom, turns into a lake when it rains.
And, this being an El Nino year....
Once the rain stops, the "lake" gets absorbed pretty fast by the ground; but, if you happen to be in a tent, a flooded tent will have already happened.
It's okay for a teardrop or other such trailer, though, because you'll be above the ground.

Sorry for the distraction... Looks like we will be in #9, might be too close to the party to get any sleep, but if my sis does come I think she will appreciate the "pull through". Peggy probably won't come along for this trip as we are planning a long one around the Union Gap, Stevenson and Creswell gatherings.

Come on Larry........you have been that close to us before, and you still have all your fingers and toes.
#9 is a nice site!
Maybe we could move the party across the road.......that is a mighty big site???
Where are we going to camp when we go to the Tieton Grand Prix??? ;)

Hi,
Just sent my request for site #63 via email because the office is closed today. Will call Monday to confirm. :worship:
See ya,
Chuck Habib

Didn't get site 63, but did get site 64. Will check-in on 4/29 a little after noon. I saw a perfect size porthole (about 10" diameter) for my teardrop, but the folks wanted a gold mine in exchange. Way too expensive. Would have been a great vent port. Still on the lookout. I wonder if Steve Vaz has one laying around he'd part with.

See you on the 29th.
chuck
