Back to Bonneville again. Our 2nd year for this team. We're getting better. Had the streamliner on/off the trailer in 10mins this time, had some issues with the turbos so a whole day was to removing those and getting the old tune back in.

Made our 1st run at 138mph and wouldn't go no more. Called in the tuner again.
Track was rough so he decided to keep it on the jacks and run it in gear to put a load on it. Still , the power wasn't there, along with some vibrations. Called it by Tuesday afternoon.
During all that, he had me get in the driver's seat while they fired it up. I was hesitant at first but I have the same build as him and can fit into the driver's ccockpit easily .
Man, what a feeling that was. Scared and excited all at once. Him revving it up gave the full experience. Vibrating every bone in your body, teeth too. Vision became "Top Fuel" vision .
This event came with a fatality though. Speed demon had a new driver and at the 2.5 mile about 250mph the streamliner broke traction and went airborne 20ft in the air. Sad to see, sounded like it was a good run from our view at the 5 mile.
Here's a few pics.
1.) 5:45am on the salt
2.) Our pit
3.) Hotrods all over.
4.) Pit

Oh yeah. Trailer related stuff.
I got to use the new "pump sprayer" shower 🚿. World of difference. I highly recommend.
And Sunday. I was able to get out the new Napa awning. Short lived . A microburst hit a few minutes later.
One bar was broken and was able to find a replacement.
Now im ready for World of Speed next weekend.

I've got one of the napa roof rack bag awnings too. I imagine you strapped it down from the outer poles? That is pretty much required as the awning is far too weak without.

IDK if it would have helped, but a couple 4-8ft extending paint poles and 3/4" cpvc size tees will make nice braces for the horizontal poles.

Those specific poles were hard to find locally for me. So I tried some steel ones of the same basic design. Only red flag was there was a steel dowel in the middle of the plastic threaded section. If you try to cut that with a miter saw it will run the blade. Fortunately I used a jigsaw so cheap blade.

Went back for World of Speed.
Camped on the flats again but other side of the road. Had a pretty crazy lightning show last night. Lots of cool car's racing.

Classes are based on engine size.
(A) is 400+ cu or higher
B ) is below 400 to 350
(C) 350 under.

I believe my 6 cylinder 231cu is (E)
Record for that engine is in the 200 range.

Pic 2 is A/BFCC which means (A) blown fuel classic coupe.

As most of the higher records in the
3-500mph range all use big displacement engines.
So some are getting records with smaller engines at lower speeds.
A few Vespas were just trying to get to 100mph. One did 94mph but did alot aerodynamic changes to even handle good at that speed.

Yeah the longer wheelbase is necessary for bigger speeds.
Coolant isn't allowed on the salt except for street car's. So streamliners build cool boxes with water inside and the radiator is inside that.
All sorts of cool automotive stuff at these races.

There is the 130mph and 150 club. You can bring a street car and try to hit 130 in the timed mile. I may try it one day.
VW's have the "36hp challenge" also attempting the 130 club.

Guess I should've named this thread Bonneville 2025. Cause I've just about been to every race except the BMST motorcycle event.
I'm getting ready for the last race of the year. The World Finals. This is the last chance to set a record. Heading out Friday night and should have the whole desert to myself. Hoping to see some 300 to 400mph runs.

World finals last weekend.
Saturday Lower temps were nice . Sunday had clouds and on/off light rain.
Friday I left around 3. About 4:45 I had a blown LR tire. My spare was a OE wrangler from 2001 😧. Kept my speed at 55 with that on.
Had 4 new LT truck tires mounted , some Nexem ATX's . Better than my street tires I had before. A bit more aggressive tread and deep. Was off road just before dark and camped on the flats.
