Stocking the Galley - any tips?

I've just finished painting the galley and have collected baskets to hold what I need. Just wondering if there's anything I've forgotten. Anybody have a checklist?

View attachment 1 There's a stove, sink and cooler in there, plus baskets for food above. I have a oil drain pan below the sink - it will hold 2-1/2 gallons of dishwater. I have battery operated lights ready to go. The big thing left to do is attach the hinges to each side, and get rid of the pole in the middle. Can't wait to go try it out.!!

It looks cute, Ruby! I thought that I read that there's a sink in there somewhere. If so, you've hidden it well.
It looks like the stove is hidden behind the hinged low cabinet on the right.

I don't see the paper and pencil in the teardrop yet but those could be in one of the baskets. The pencil and paper is to write down things that you discover you'd like while camping. You're no stranger to camping; so, I'm betting you've got 99% of what you need.

Where did you get the 'picnic' style baskets? Been looking but all have come with dishes, etc and I just want empty ones to put my new dish set and the iron pans in.

Thanks
Bill

You'll want to camp a few times and make note of things you don't really use or can simplify. I don't know what all you have IN the baskets but as long as you do it's nice to have it "hidden". Just remember to close the galley door at night!

I've got two checklists and they're out in the 'drop and under its cover. The first is the items I load in the Tacoma bed/shell: chairs, roll table, DOs, brickets etc. The second is a quick checklist before I tow: Hitch, safety chains, drawer locks, galley latches, and doors shut etc. I don't always use it but having the list helps me think about it as I do my post-hitch walk around.

Throw in a box of bandaids. Sooner of later... :frightened:

The baskets are from thrift stores, friends and e-bay. Found the vintage "kooler" on e-bay.

The sink is a rubbermaid basin which happens to have a drain and plug. It drains into an oil drain pan behind the hinged board at the bottom. The stove is in one of the top boxes for now.

Thanks for all of your comments, I really appreciate them. This is a fun project - keeping me sane while watching over my 98 year-old Dad who happens to be very child like a lot of the time.

I'm almost through painting the inside "bedroom area" - will be posting a photo soon.

I took everything I thought I'd need and put tape on each item then as I used it I took the tape off. When we got home everything that still had tape went in our sometimes camp box and the things without tape stayed in the galley.

It looks great! I am in love with that "kooler" and picnic basket. Got to get to thrift stores and find some.
