Greetings,

Has anyone out there used the roll rubber roofing that's used on large campers for the roof of their teardrop camper build? I wonder if it's as effective as more normal roof materials like aluminum, Filon or fiberglass?

Don't get GPW started on OEM camper quality, or the lack thereof. The general consensus is that it will not last long term in UV, to the riggers of outdoor use, or just can't be made to seal well. Standing water is also an enemy. OEM's use it because it goes down quick and easy, is relatively inexpensive, and they don't really care about warranty issues because they have other ways of cheating you that way. I have the same opinion about longevity of any system with seams and or trim intended to seal edge joints. That's why I decided to fully enclose TPCE in fiberglass and epoxy wrapped around soft rounded edges. But that also comes with caveats (PPE issues, messy dust, perceived added expense and effort, etc.). Basically the reason TPCE isn't complete, but that's a different story.

Forgive my ignorance but what is TPCE?

My first build was Filon, worked great but just looking for more cost effective ways for TD covering. I like the fiberglass as well as filon.

TPCE = The Poet Creek Express, my build thread. Hybrid Foamie off the deep end. Used to be a link in my signature, not sure if it still shows that way in revised format.

If you click on my avatar you can see my full signature with link to my build thread. Be forewarned, it's a monster with no end in sight.

The rubber roofing used on RV's is not the same quality used on buildings "Rubber roofing guarantees "typically range from 10 to 30 years, with some manufacturers offering options up to 40 years, depending on the system and manufacturer."
Now admittedly it is not going down the road at 70 MPH
