"The X-Cubed" C.T.T.

Very nice on both the progress snd the season finale. ;) I hope you can sell the x-II soon I would hate to see this progress come to a halt.

Great season finale!! Now of course I can't wait until the fall for the next season!!

I have 4 people who say they're "definitely interested" in the X-II, but until I get a deposit its still fair game for anyone. Warmer weather should bring even more interest. :worship:

They're probably waiting for their tax return money, Zach. It'll sell. There's no doubt in my mind.

I know... just tired of being patient :?

Got the other corner panel framed, skinned (interior), and insulated tonight.

Now I need to figure out my next step. Think I need to focus on the galley counter and upper bulkhead. Then I can move on to the the trolley top and make sure it joins everything together the way it should.

Do you not need sleep, or how do you cut all the straight lines while being hopped up on Red Bull? :R

... long naps at the office. :D :eyebrows:

This corner section actually took about half the time of the other side since I had already figured out the compound bevels. Just a matter of rippin and choppin.... rippin and choppin.

Figured it was time to tie the sides together towards the top so I made my hinge spar. I like a little extra strength in this area, so I got two 1x3 oak boards, ripped them both down to 2" wide and then laminated them together. Then I pocket-screwed each end with 4 screws (2 top, 2 bottom).

View from inside the galley, looking up and back towards the hinge spar....

Then worked a little on the galley counter and the upper bulkhead...

Thats it for tonight. Time for sleep... :goodnight:

All of those angle cuts are boggling my mind :? And to think i was stessing over the 45's and 32 on my trim.
yours would have made me just quit I think lol

Nothing a good plan and a nice powered miter saw can't handle, and of course the skilled operator to execute the plan with precision. That's all. ;)

Skilled operator would have been my problem :?

Trust me, it took a little bit of practice on scraps to get those angles just right :?

Worked on some more framing for the upper galley last night. The entire counter space will most likely remain open, but I'll make dividers similar to what I had in the X-II. Then there will be shelves on each side of a stereo enclosure that will be in the center.

Conceptual model.... (colors not representative of finished camper)

Just below the stereo is a little compartment where I'll mount the two auxillary inputs (USB & 3.5mm jack), and a pair of powered USB ports and a 12V outlet for charging any electronics.

Need to go pick up a couple sheets of 1/2" plywood this evening so I can finish the galley and interior shelves.

Since I don't have another trailer that I can use to haul 4x8 sheets, I guess I'll be taking this one. Just need to hook up the temporary lights again.

Or put some 2x4s on your roof rack and tie everything down really, really well.

Is there going to be any storage behind the panel the speakers are mounted on? Maybe a secret stash hidden from the ranger? ;)

The speaker openings in the galley match up with the speaker openings for the cabin, so those are essentially tiny speaker boxes. Up above the stereo is going to be some storage thats only accessible from the cabin (for now). Still working on tweaking the interior.

I went home quick on my lunch break... bolted the tail lights to the sides and then zipped over to Lowes :FNP

Two sheets of 1/2" ply and another sheet of 3/4" insulation....

Other than the tiny wheels, I think its looking pretty good behind the Outback!

Had a cop follow me for a couple blocks and passed another sitting in a parking lot. Neither seemed to care that I didnt have a license plate or fenders, and only had half of the required lighting. 8)

I have a sale pending on the X-II... should be doing paperwork and finishing the deal on Sunday. Then I can start ordering parts! One of the first things getting ordered will be the new wheels and tires which will raise it up 3" and then I still have to build the trolley-top section, which will make it another 3" taller yet. She's gonna be a big one... about 82" from ground to top of fan.

Got a lot done this weekend, including parting ways with the X-II. The new owners already have trips planned and I'm sure they're going to enjoy it!

Installed the shelf in the sleeping cabin, and worked on the upper galley....

Galley counter is starting to look like something...

And finally beginning the framing for the trolley top...

I have a long list of parts that need ordered, so tomorrow and Tuesday will be a bit of a shopping spree.

Congrats on selling the X2!
And I like your flip-down shelf idea, it gives a good mix of visibility and access.
