Alright Utah'ns let's get another discussion going for a gathering here.
Post up if your seriously interested and where .
(North, South , primitive or civilized).

Last year we did Yuba. The campground was great but fishing was lousy.
Me and Desertmoose did discuss Beaver as a possible location.

This summer I volunteered for a racing team and that's scheduled between August & September, so anytime before or after that unless racing is your thing.
Welcome to come out to the salt as well.
Looking forward to your input and let's make this year's trailer gathering bigger, better.

I'm not a Utahan , but a neighbor in Idaho , and am game for just about anywhere in your beautiful state . I do however have an aversion to hot weather , any temp above 85ish is to much , so would have a preference for high and cool or shoulder season . Please keep me posted as I would love to come . We do a three to four-week trip to southern Utah every spring. We avoid the campgrounds and choose to boondock.

There's some great country to explore down there, but during the summer, we'll stay home in Idaho/Montana. Heat.

Tony

Hi Lee. It will be great to have ya.
Temps will be hitting 100 tomorrow. I also quit camping in the heat.
Have something in the works once the temps are reasonable.

In for details... Don't know if I'll be able to make it... But I might!

Well, I tried. Couldn't get schedules to meet up and racing has costed me a few extra weekends helping out.
So here's a for sure date and location.
I've been wanting to do this for awhile and finally it lands on a weekend.

Date:::; DECEMBER 20 - 21st is the winter solstice. Probably leaving that Friday afternoon, so we can wake up to the sun lining up with the tunnels.

Location:::; Lucin, Utah Sun tunnels.

Conditions ::::; Winter, dirt gravel road somewhat smooth. Cold [emoji300].
Snow doesn't accumulate much here so it should be dry to 1" snow if that.

If you have never winter camped before and want to try it out, let me know I'll give some tips.
Also I'll be the guide going out there and making sure we get out there and back.
Last time. I was out there was 2012 "end of the world" and had a blast .
4wd is nice but 2wd will make it. I have all sorts of recovery gear & experience. Not expecting any of that, just I-80 and a dirt road.

Also some cool historical stuff out there.
Post up if your interested and we'll talk throughout the month's leading to this epic trip.

Lovin' it ! count me in . Great time of year and only about 175 miles from twin falls . See you then and please keep me updated . I don't know if we have lost Sam Howe as they apparently are moving to Texas . I will alert a teardrop friend of mine who lives near me and does winter teardropping ( spell checker tells me that is misspelled , I think spell checker is just misinformed ) . Lee

Sweet. I was worried it may be too hard core. DesertMoose informed me of his move and won't be coming. Originally we was planning on Beaver but fire's, ect.
Looking forward to having you out there. I have a spare heater buddy if anyone needs it.
Kinda can't wait for the cold. [emoji6]

Just a bit over a month away and already preparing. My firewood guy retired recently and found another with good prices and milled wood.
For $20 I got 4 bundles of various 1.5" wood oak, cherry, ect from a cabinet maker . Have some thicker stuff as well.
Filled up 4 buckets of the 1.5" stuff for the stove and cut it into 4" lengths.
I go through maybe 2 buckets on a heavy weekend. This is plenty. [emoji91]

Need to wash and swap to the 5 degree sleeping bag. Then im ready to go.

Well it looks like cloud cover for that morning. So no sun lining up with the tunnels. [emoji17]
Last night I started getting a bad feeling about this trip. Gonna listen to my gut and go somewhere else.
I'll be heading to Vernon reservoir. It has the colder temps im looking for that's similar to Lucin.
