Vin number and registration in Utah

Hi all, just wondering if anyone on here has built a complete tear drop requiring a in number and registration in the state of Utah, just wondering the process ahead of me

I’m from Utah and I did that last year after I finished a build. The DMV site has a place for custom vehicles. It will require two trips to the dmv and a visit from a policeman to verify you attached the VIN to the trailer. It wasn’t very hard.

Hey Thank I really appreciate the reply, I am the stage of just finishing up the chassis part.
Just curious do they ask for all the receipts and associated costs of the build for its value at registration ? Again, just a heads up

No, just receipts for major parts like the frame and axle. They aren’t interested in receipts for all the little stuff.

So things like doors, fan, battery, and plywood are they interested in that, or is it mainly for the chassis.

and sorry just to clarify, you did all this when the camper was finished and not after the trailer part was finished.

I just finished up my chassis, ready to start the woodworking

Yes, I waited until it was all finished. BTW, if your trailer is 750 lbs or less you don’t need to register it. Mine weighs a lot more than that because it’s a toy hauler.

Thanks again, yes, I knew about the 750lbs, I will probably be over, the trailer so far is about 380Lb
