I'm getting ready. The kayak is almost ready.

Seats area fun. Except the table saw incident.

I was camping with the Colorado TD and Tiny Trailers this past weekend in Poudre Canyon. :p :p Word is that
Walk the Winds has the most amazing lantern light up there is (according to Martin Albright). I'm not the owner of a gas lantern, but am
looking forward to being with ya'all soon. 8)

Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting some water beneath her.

I'm curious, when is everyone planning to arrive at the campground? Midday Friday, or ???

Cool. I didn't realize you lived so close to Riverton. I'm needing to start firming up a general travel plan. Not sure If I want to stop the night before near Laramie or maybe further west.

Will,

Short of something crazy happening at work, I should be at this years "Walk the Winds"
BTW, nice planning on the date. Happens to correspond with the long weekend for Pioneer Day.

See you in about a month.

Wolfgang, careful planning pays off :D or plain dumb luck :? Seems like official check in time is 2pm but it is pretty casual. It appears no one is camping there Thursday so area should be empty. Host has had gate unlocked by noon in past.

Since we're in bear country, I'm curious what y'all do about food storage at night and when not around the camp? I've backpacked in this area before, but carrying a pretty compact bundle of chow, it was easy to hang if needed.

Gotcha on the Angus bears. LOL

I'm used to locking the galley down at night. Most campgrounds in Texas have militant herds of raccoons that have no fear of people.

Great to hear the plans and cooking ideas...I've not used a dutch oven yet myself. I might borrow one. What if I was planning on coming up on Thursday? Perhaps I'll
find a different site for that night. I'm really looking forward to meeting ya'all soon. :R

* Update - I made a reservation at Fremont Lake for Thursday, the 19th. Didn't want you to worry about me....if, in fact, any one was......:ok:

  • Who'd want to use bear spray on an Angus bear? You can easily spot one from a distance, and just toss them a few range cubes to divert them.

Bear spray on cowbears :applause: add little Mrs. Dash and you are good to grill :D

See you all in about 3 weeks
