A few years back I built a camper specifically for hunting and had it on a 7x14 deck over, then I put it on a 8x20 deck over so I wouldn't have to carry my atv in the back of the truck anymore.
It's built like a boat, interior framework, 1/8 ply, 1 1/2 styro and PMF exterior all painted with a waterproof stain. I'd been great for the last 5 years or so. This is a pic of how we set it up now. 7x14 is the size
I'm planning on changing the layout on the 20 foot deck next spring so the ATV would ride on the front, rather than the back [better weight distribution]. I plan on using the full width [a bit over 8 feet so it could be narrower to match the camper up top[] and am asking if anyone has some good suggestions on how I should approach this?
I'd like it to be a bit more aero dynamic, be insulated like the camper [use the same construction technique] so we could install air to keep meat cool in camp and have a large side door for putting the ATV onboard. I'd also like to lower my awning track and have it run the full 20 foot length. I may or may not attach it to the front of the current camper so it could be a stand alone box if you want to call it that. I'll go back to a standard awning layout with the framework coming off the side. I'll have around 6'6" x 8'4" to play with.
Looking forward to seeing some ideas on how to approach this.
