Websites >Neat-Fun-Info on camping others will enjoy

I'm just buying my first TD and this is one of the trips I'm going to take in 2010. I've been wanting to do it for ages but some parts can be remote if you want to explore and the TD is perfect for the trip.

For the Canadian portions, I'm going to get the new US Passport Card so I don't have to risk losing my regular passport ~ good for crossing Canadian and Mexican boarders.

This would actually make a fun caravan trip.

You can get a drivers licence plus but I can't as it's only for residents of Quebec. :(

US residents have to get the passport card which is the same size as a driver's license or just use their full passport. I'd rather not carry my full passport if I can avoid it ~ especially since I like to go fishing in Canada and my luck, it would end up in the lake !!

Grog's Animated Knots.

http://www.animatedknots.com/

Choose KNOT LIST at the top of the menu, select a knot. You can move the knot again by moving your cursor over the numbers frame by frame.

Thought you folks might enjoy this for camping and travel. Knots are useful for boats, campsites, fastening gear, dining canopies and climbing.

One warning about the passport card...

It's valid to cross the border, but airlines will not accept it. To fly, you have to have the full passport.

Hate to see someone have to pay for both!

Here is a website I have used to find quiet inexpensive campgrounds to spend the night. http://www.ultimatecampgrounds.com/uc/index.php
What I especially like about it is that it only lists municipal, county, state and government campgrounds and parks. Many are free or very low cost, at least in the western states. Before I go on vacation this year I am going to purchase the membership so I can download the list to my Garmin GPS. I have not found any other app or list to be as comprehensive as this one for the type of campgrounds I prefer.

Oh man, I could've used this on so many road trips! Thank you

I was excited about that site. Then I had a look at their listings for the area where we live. Not so good.... one FS (forest service) campground listed has been closed for the past three years, with the current plans to keep it closed this year. Another FS site that they list as a campground has been a day use only area for at least 5 years. Maybe I hit the only mis-listed sites in my state, but that does make me cautious about using that site as a resource. I have notified them.

The site owner was very responsive, thanked me and is correcting the listings.

That's great to hear! I'll check for my area and see if there is anything to update.

:D Since I already listed Pamplin Grove, home of the IRG (International Redwood Gathering), when this Thread was a newbie, I'll let you know it is still up and available to view @ www.pamplingrove.com

We are Teardrop campers and Foodies. My husband Dean (Fogcrawler) and I have a Cooking Show on the YouTube channel where we feature cooking in the great outdoors. A number of our webisodes feature places we camp, scenery shots of campgrounds, and most importantly......Cooking Food in Cast Iron in the Great Outdoors. 8)
We share our recipes for cooking some very delicious meals using skillets, Dutch/Camp ovens, and other cast iron.
You can browse the Channel for recipes by category, such as Main Dish, Desserts, Seafood, etc.

Here's my new favorite campground review website. They have listings for everything; free spots to RV Resorts: campendium.com

:applause:

I've already written several reviews. I have no affiliation with the website. And sorry for the multiple postings on this site. I didn't know where to put it. Feel free to delete if needed.
