What do you pull it with?

Our teardrop weighs 650 pounds empty. We pull with a 4 cylinder Toyota Camry 2.2 L engine. We live in Florida where it is flat. Over the Rockys?

I plan on pulling our Cubby with a 1.6L Supercharged Miata. If the kayaks go with us then we'll use the 4.0L Ranger 4x4.

I use a 1998 Honda Passport (Isuzu Redeo) with a V6 with 130K miles. No towing package, just a hitch and wiring done after market. I've had to climb 7-8% grades with no problem. 8) The TD only weighs about 700-800 pounds empty.

Land Rover Discovery V8. - But I only get 16mpg without pulling anything. I'd hate to see what I get pulling a big RV!

A 2005 Ford Explorer V6. Pulling the teardrop, I get about 15.5 MPG on the highway. This drops to somewhere in the 14s in the mountains.

My trailer isn't done yet but when it is I plan to tow with this '61 Rambler American. It's got a Chevy V8 and disc brakes so it should handle the few extra pounds of the trailer I'm building.

The car makes people smile and is a lot of fun :)
It's surprising how many people have never seen one tho. Most of them here in Michigan have gone to rust heaven years ago.

The originals were a bit of a camper too. They were the first cars with seats that would recline flat, like a bed. :eyebrows:
