Well you fine people here have me wondering about this DO cooking thing especially after seeing some of the pictures of the food posted here and I am asking for one for Christmas.

I know I want the Lodge...but what size? Does it go by quarts or inches?

I have 2 young children and 2 adults, but sometimes the outlaws are camping with us. I know later on down the road I can always get more, but which one would you start with?

I kind of did a search but didn't see anything along these line, so I am sorry if this is a thread that has been posted before.

Thanks in advance!

12" deep good for 4 people with visitors, you can do a small turkey or a couple of chickens, thats just me.

My feeling is get a 12 inch, for a family of 4 and then later 10 inch for a side dish or deserts.

You can get a 12" pre~seasoned Lodge at Walmart for about $36.00. I've been experimenting with a 10", and I can't believe the amount of food you can fit in it. Have fun!

I just sent my list off...and told them the 12" 8 quart pre-seasoned Lodge. Does this sound right?

Sounds right for a family of 4. You might want to get a smaller one for a side dish or dessert.

BTW: The ones at Wally World are up to $41 now. I guess they drop the price during camping season.

8) A 22" Macha works well if anyone is planning on getting married in it.

Of course it'll take you and the "outlaws" to pack it around.

When I was at The Sportsmans Warehouse I seen one of those 22" DO...you would need a seperate Teardrop to take it with you.

Has anyone here ever used the 22" for anything?
