Would like to learn to use a cad program to draw campers. But never tried cad. I looked at the list of programs on here but was wondering if there is some thing new out there and what would be best for a newbie? Thanks

Newbies have a lot of success with Google Sketchup. And it's free.

And while it's really good at solid modeling, it doesn't make drawings. But if it's just for you, it should be plenty!

P.S. They also have a program called Layout, but I don't know anything about it.

Go with the free version to test it out - it does have some of the pro version features built into it - the current version is Sketchup 8 - I believe that SketchUp 7 has some import and export features that were done away with in version 8 (more or less to integrate with other programs - moved them from the free version to the pro version). SketchUp has a steep learning curve - but if you are patience - it will yield incredible 3d models with exact dimensions ;)

Exactly, get the free one.

If you find that 3D modeling is not what you wanted let me know, I'll look at 2D cad programs for you.

I was going to recommend QCAD, but it's no longer free. They want €24.00 for it now!!!

I use Autocad 2017. I use the program for a living for my job. So this cad stuff is a breeze for me.

Dissecting the SSTear my camper 3d cad model movie.
