Hi everyone. I’m still undecided about whether to build a teardrop or save up and buy a used one. I have Tony’s book, and I was wondering if anyone who has used it to build their own could share pictures or a link to their build.

Thanks in advance

Kevin:

You might join the Facebook group: DIY Teardrop Campers Community. Numerous folks have built using my book who hang out there.

Don't be shy with questions directed at me. You'll have many.

Here are a few photos:

It gives me great pleasure to see these rise from the pages of my book.

Thanks,

I don’t consider myself a woodworker but I followed Tony’s book to the letter except for cosmetics and a drop floor. I used all his measurements. It turned out to be one of my most gratifying endeavors.
My build journal…

Hi Kevin,
I just started my build using Tony's book. I bought a door that was wider than his which is causing me some concerns but I'm also happy to share my lessons learned as I progress.

and as one of them 'limericks' I read here on this website states = "People in the Teardrop group consider stealing idea's a compliment!" and no, I didn't use Tony's book for building mine = I just 'stole' some more "idea's" from it = GREAT book!!!! ...........

I just finished my Teardrop using Tony's book as my building guide. The design and construction methods are really solid thinking. I recommend it. The construction of the galley walls and hatch are particularly clever and address a number of problems I have seen others have. Do a workmanlike job and be patient. Read and re-read until it makes sense before committing to a process.

I bought the book and read a few chapters. Revisited it a couple times but it bogged down a little in the details of a particular way to build the teardrop or galley hatch and I didnt want to do it like that so I didnt get as much value out of it as some on here.

Its worth reading if you are gonna build since every idea helps even if you go a different route.
