Benjy here from Woodenwidget in France. I'd like to introduce you to my latest design, the Slidabox, an expanding camper with some unusual features. Here are the basics: It weighs less than 300 kilos, it has an extending part which allows for a 2 metre long bed. It is fully insulated and can be easily made using any small trailer. Ahoy PM, sure. I'll describe it and add a few pics, hopefully that will make it clear. All the panels of the Slidabox are made from a composite of thin 3 mm ply and 20 mm XPS bonded within a wooden frame. This makes for a very light, strong and easy to make panel which simply screws to another panel. No framework needed. The drawer is simply another box with runners at the bottom which run in gutters which let water run out. The drawer extends about a third of the width of the Slidabox so as not to overly strain the structure. When the drawer is open there's access to the galley and storage area. On the inside of the drawer there is wood trim which stops the drawer opening too far and also stops water ingress. Under the lower 'bed' panel of the drawer are wooden supports which almost touch the underside of the panel so as not to create any friction when the drawer is opened or closed but will touch with the weight of an occupant on the bed thus stopping the panel from warping or being damaged. I think that covers it! Let me know if you had anything specific in mind.
