Are we going to have name tags? There is no way that I'll be able to remember everyone's name :? This is going to be a great gathering

That's the plan Verna. In 2011 I was about half way through maiking name tags when my computer decided to take a vacation.

Name tags are a great idea and will be part of the gathering this time.

Just an FYI...we are going to be using Food Tags this year also. A few couple of us will be standing at both table lines (yes 2 lines this year) and asking what dish each person is setting on the tables. We will then write down the food name on a tag for you to place by the dish. No more guessing what is in the pot! I am waiting for my paper supplier to get me some card stock, complete with the Tearjerkers logo to use as tags.

Betsey & Kay, thanks for the ideas for the Pitch-in dinner arrangement. The picture really changes when there is a large number of guests for dinner.

Our first stab at it (in 2011) wnt smoother than I thought it would but the eaters were especially hungry about 6:00 in the after noon. After the Dutch Oven contest and the announcements I could see that it was time to open the gates and let them eat.

Dan Sutton and I will be working closely with this subject and will take any suggestions that come down the line.

As we all know, experience and practice makes the best teacher.

One of the most important jobs for the "party style" events is getting enough strong people to carry the picnic tables around. There is always room for more helpers and I have a "Sign up Sheet" ready at all times for volunteers.
Anyone who can lend a hand and would like to "sign up" is encouraged to do so. I'll keep a running list on the web site so we can see how we are doing.

"Sign up Sheet" link.

Don't forget I am bringing rental tables down so we won't have to carry picnic tables.

Happy New Year to all of our camping friends, from the Organizers of the "Crossroads of America 2013" gathering.

It won't be too long and we can start making reservations for the July 25-28 Crossroads of America Gathering.

The earliest that the reservations will be open is (6) months in advance of the date that you wish to reserve. For example; A reservation for July 25th could be made on January 25th.

There are two sites that we'd like to use for the main festivities such as the "Wine & Cheese" on Friday evening, "Breakfast on Saturday" morning, and the "Pitch-in" on Saturday evening as well as the Movie at 9:00pm.

Those two site numbers are #47 and #64. If you would be so kind; Please don't reserve these sites. Anything else is free for the first takers.

Pay close attention to the camp site details so that you get the site you want.

This memo will be re-sent in mid-January in case new contacts are added to the "master email list".

Speaking for those of us with allergies, since there will be food labels, perhaps if the chef can also make a note if the dish contains nuts, etc.

The tags are a good idea and are helpful to people with allergies but for the sake of getting too carried away, how about having a short recepie included on the tag. Only the chef will know what's in there.

This would not only show the ingredients but would be great for someone to copy if they really like the dish.

This could be a hand written or printed (3X5) card sized (or bigger if needed) tag. We'll have extra (blank) tags available for those who forget to include a "food Tag" with their dish.

We'll have plenty of time to think about it and how to make it as easy as possible for everyone between now and July.

We are starting to get some serious distance represented.

Louisiana has at least two attendees, Northern California as well as NY state, Pennsylvania and several eastern states. Atlantic coast is showing some action as well as the upper Mid West and Texas.

Once again, the coverage area is looking good and we thank all of you who are coming such a long (or short) distance to attend the gathering.

Shortly, we can start making reservations for the July 25-28 Crossroads of America Gathering.
