Jarred and Misty, glad you're coming. This should be a good one. Have you ever done any kayak or canoe paddling? It's really fun.

No we never have canoed (sp?) or anything like that. We have been on the lookout for a canoe. We think it would be great fun, if we don't find one then we are thinking about renting one if possible. I got a new truck and we are thinking if we get one i'll have to put a rack ontop of it. we can't wait to drive the truck on a trip, it's not a new new truck but it's new to me and the newest one that i have ever had. as u can tell i like it a lil bit. Bob, i will have that old waffle iron ready to cook on just for u guys. we'll have to see if it makes thicker waffles than Kurts. i know he had an idea about, we'll have to see... and misty is up for the shakes too vicki, she was bummed when we didn't make it for the winter camp out. well guys i had better get goin.

There are boat rental available at Chain of Lakes. I'll get some more details including pricing.

Update!! "They have boat and canoe rentals, $5.00 an hour or $20.00 a day (and a $20.00 deposit or your Indiana State Drivers License). You might want to rent for the day because once you get out on those lakes it could be hours and hours before you want to return to shore."

I still want to confirm these prices, but this gives you an idea of the cost. ;)

Sounds Good, and for sure the day is the way to go

Update: I just called Chain of Lakes, here's their story.

The Hourly rate is $8 /hr (Kayak) or $5/hr (Canoe)
The "day rate" of $20/day is only available Monday -Thursday. I knew there was a catch.

Not cheap, but great fun.

It looks like a good approach might be to split the cost with a neighbor. One hour of paddling might be more than some people will want to do.
Others will probably want to go a lot longer.

Anyone is welcomed to borrow mine for a period of time. If it holds me almost anyone could use it.

Possibly others will volunteer also. (can't say for sure)

Hi Kurt, God willing and if Jan doesn't pack to much we will be bring the canoe, it's a 17'. Also, I get lazy sometimes and use the elect. motor, lol. But anyone is more than welcome to use it. Can't wait to get there. Finally got the tear out of the back yard tonight. Might try a short camp-out at Findley State park this weekend. Looks like it s going to be in the fifties, with a chance of rain. More fun than in the back yard. Erv

I'm getting mine out this week (I think). I'm anxious to get it cleaned up for spring, check the wheel bearings, etc..

Will you bring the canoe on your car roof or on the teardrop?
I might try putting the Kayak on the teardrop for a trip to see how it does. I use the "simple" rubber foam pads and then strap it down in the middle (through the doors) and then straps on each end. It does well on the SUV but we'll see how it does on the trailer.

I love this time of year. (maybe rushing it but it feels so good.)

I have a small Toyota truck that I made a rear rack for the canoe sits on it, the front sits on foam. We have been back yard camping all winter. Missed the first get together because of the weather. Looks like we might get out this weekend tho. So far the coldest was -11, it was nice and toasty with just a small heater. Just got a heated pad for the bed this month and that makes so we don't even have to run the heater. Got the tear ready to go last week, it hit 45-50 degs. so I was out messing around getting things ready. Erv
