Shabbona Gathering

Postby pigcooker » Sun Jul 29, 2007 8:57 pm

Rick;
Just a thought - - Everyone can download the application from the DNR website, complete the form and send to you with their payment made out to the DNR along with a stamp......you fill in the campsite numbers and mail them all at once so we're assured to get sites together.

You'll need to PM each of us with your name & address if this is OK with you......

We also need to add T&TTT Group somewhere on the application too.

Great idea Doug!

If everyone can look and see what area they like, we can all come to a decision on the general area in the campground. I'd be willing to drive out, pick out the best sites in that area and then drop off the reservation forms.

Do we have a any special needs campers? You know, wheelchairs and etc?

Hi Rick,

New guy here. Thanks, Rick, for letting me know about the gathering. :) If you folks won't mind a couple of real greenhorns joining you, Denice and I would like to join in.

We don't have our teardrop yet, but it is supposed to arrive August 20 at the Little Guy dealer in Eureka, MO. That should give us a chance to take it out to a local campground for an overnight sometime in September and then trek up to Shabbona for the get together.

Since Denice still works full time, we can't get there until Saturday. :( We would probably start out early, early and get there in the morning. Hope that is okay.

Chuc,

Whenever you get there is fine, the key is that you get there! :D

All are welcome to attend!

site reservations

Postby pigcooker » Mon Jul 30, 2007 6:44 pm

Rick;
I hate to be a PITA, but the only sites available to reserve are 61 thru 99 and 60 being the only handicapped site that can be reserved. These sites are in Merganser Circle. The rest of the campground is first come first served and cannot be reserved or held, this is according to the application I downloaded. That is the only reason I mentioned it in my previous post.

Yep, just found out the same today when I called. The gal said "historically" that's been a quiet weekend but I never trust them to know when it's *really* busy :lol:

Folks please PM me for my snail mail address so we can get these reservations in and lock out the sites as soon as possible!. You can do it yourself too but I'm thinking if we jam them in order we'll be able to get adjacent sites.

Seriously, I don't know. They've pulled multiple state and national record Muskies out of there though... ;)

Crazy isn't it ? :thumbdown: Usually it's because the lake is a source of potable water for some local water supply district. Fish drool is OK but suntan lotion and DEET probably isn't . . . ??

I was thinking of dragging the canoe out . . . just have to figure out if I can tow the TD and throw the canoe on top without interfering :thinking:
