We have a change of plans for the Spring Gathering.

It turns out that the park that we had mentioned before (Fowler Park) in Vigo County will not be available for us in May.

The County Park has several (too many) seasonal campers that the Park administration is reluctant to move out of the park for our May gathering.

With this in mind, Dan and I took another "road trip" today to look at Shakamak State Park (Jasonville, IN). Shakamak is close to Terre Haute and is a very shady (gravel pad) campground.

There is a loop on the North end of the camping area that will do well for our group.
Sites are high lighted on the map so you can see the vicinity of our gathering. Any sites near the yellow loop will be fine.
(or any other site in the park would be fine also.)

Sorry for the change in location but the County campground has different customers than the State Parks and we had no choice in the matter.

Rob, it was really nice with the fall colors today. It is very shaded which is fine with me.

Looks good to me! I love traveling the SW corner of the state. The geographical features make for great sight seeing!

Have heard of Shakamak, but never been there, so am looking forward to the gathering. Gertrude and I will definitely be there! Looks like the fishing and boating plans will still work, too!!

If I'm not mistaken,Reservations for Shakamak should be open tomorrow for our spring gathering dates of May 16-19.

WOW !

Went in on Google earth and the entire campgrounds is tree covered and nice and shady.

I like that ! I'm kinda eyeballin' site 32 or 37 looks like my kinda site!

I have never been to this park and am looking forward to seeing it first hand. From what I could see form the pics it looks to be a real nice campground area.

Announcement of Date Change for the gathering.

New dates of May 16-19, 2013 will allow us to reserve for the gathering without having to stay Sunday night also.

The Memorial Day weekend (May 24-26) is requiring that we must reserve Friday plus two days past Friday to get a weekend reservation. This means that a Sunday night stay is required for that weekend.

Since many people might not want to spend the additional night camping (for Sunday), I'm proposing a date change to the preceding weekend. (May 16-19)

The weekend after Memorial Day is already booked so the weekend prior to our original weekend will have to be our gathering date.

So, our reservations should be made for the gathering dates of May 16-19, 2013.

I apologize for and inconvenience or confusion but the DNR camping rule have required this change.

Please note!!! For anyone who has already reserved for the original dates (plus Sunday), please contact me and I will arrange for a "date transfer" and there will be no cost to you.
