Almost forgot one of the most important things you should do to your Dutch Oven. Label it, the top and any spoon (utensil) you are going to bring to a group supper. They all look the same and it is nice to go back to your trailer with your stuff.

I have a key chain ring attached to the wire bail on the Dutch Oven bottom, the handle for the top, and the spoon people use to dish out the contents. Attached to the key ring I have a washer onto which I have stamped our name.

While your top will be fairly unique the bottom of your Dutch Oven is going to look like everyone else's and another 10 inch bottom may not fit yours properly. Labeling will possibly keep you from some frustration.

Somebody on camp-cook just bumped Steve's Chicken Enchilada Ring in a Dutch oven that I made once several years ago and really liked. Pat put me down for this on Saturday night.

Ok. April is here, and I guess it is time to figure out what I am bringing. Once again, I'll make up some biscuits and gravy for breakfast. (why mess with what works?)
For the dinner I will be making some scalloped potatoes.

So for breakfast I have self-assigned bacon - am I to bring it already cooked, or do we do the cooking at the gathering. Anyone have any idea how much I should bring?

Sun is out - snow is melting!!

Hi--Thanks for bringing the bacon! DId you notice that MIke and Michelle are already bringing bacon? Use your judgment--no specific quantity is expected. Ordinarily for a potluck, you'd bring enough of whatever dish to serve about six people, but if you'd like to make more bacon than that, no one will object, I'm sure. Did you know that a pig industry group is predicting a bacon shortage coming up at some time in the not too distant future due to the shortage of corn? Hope the supply holds out until Cooler! :)

We have the popcorn machine on order again. And just for a side note, "There is never too much bacon". I don't know what we will show up with for pot luck. Don't you know that is "like" three weeks away yet??
