With Dan and Suzi confirming their reservation we were up to a firm 13, but we rapidly jumped to 14 when Glenn and Opal PMed me from Florida. They will be back sometime in March so that they too can finally enjoy some cold weather.

I may have my guess of 15 trailers exceeded fairly shortly.

1. BrwBier (Bob) - 013
2. Gary and Cheri (Finnegan) - 009*
3. Wanna Be (Lynn and Trooper) - 084
4. Dan and Suzi Galvin - 032
5. Tearhead (Pat and Mark) - 008
6. Outtahand (Kevon and Annette) - 011
7. gdpipkorn (Grant & Diane) - 017
8. Woodbutcher (Steve)+(Marley) - 010*
9. Ptomaine (Tom and Henry) - 012
10. sherryk - 006
11. RioWilson (Mike and Michelle) - 022
12. flygal6 (Carol, Sue and Brutus) - 016
13. Duke and Laurie - 005
14. Glenn and Opal - 014
15. DWE (Dennis and Cheryl) - 034
16. Bkcreation34 (Brian) - 033
17. cs_whypt2 (Dianne, Luke and many dogs) - 088

When Cheri and I first started camping we could go almost anywhere and immediately get into any campground without making a reservation. Those days are long gone and now you have to start thinking about what you want to do six months in advance. Six months from today is the middle of July when so many people will be fighting for a shady spot to camp in near a lake.

Yesterday the Land of Lincoln chapter directors (Steve and Doug) put out there tentative camping plans for 2013 and a month and a half after Cooler by the Lake they are having an outing at Shabbona State Park in Illinois. I mention this one in particular because for me, and many of you, it is less than two hours away. The Hip Hop June 6-9 is a month and a half after Cooler and just about the time I feel the urge to get to another gathering. So I signed up!!!!!

If this sounds like something you would be interested in also you can find more information here;

http://www.tearjerkers.net/new_forum/vi ... =48&t=6257

This thread is over on the Tearjerkers web site. As it is the park closest to Chicago I am guessing that spots will fill up fairly quickly as soon as people start thinking about camping.

Lynn,

While technically you are right I consider you a trailer person so I hope you don't mind if I count you as a trailer even if is but a sparkle in your future.

Also I am hoping that you are not the only person in a tent. I have been in contact with Diane who had a trailer but is currently without. She is definitely a trailer person. It's a frame of mind and whether you have one or want one it is a way of thinking. Diane, if you are reading this we would like you to come. You make me laugh and that makes me feel good.

Bummer --

Annette and I sat down with our calendars to try to nail down important dates for big things in the upcoming year.
She informed me that her annual chorale singing concert is the evening of Friday, April 26.

:frightened:

So it looks like we're not going to be at the camp-out until Saturday. I think we can probably get there late morning or so. It won't take long to set up, naturally. I would still love to get a group together to go out geocaching that afternoon.

Kevon,

That just means you will need to join Steve, Cheri and myself (+Dawn?) on Thursday.

Geocaching, absolutely. I would never have known about those Indian mounds if not for what we did last year. This is one of those things that I have been looking forward to doing with you again.

jmkjr72,

Tent or trailer does not matter. Cooler by the Lake has always had people who have a common interest or desire. People have come in the past to just get ideas that they hope to incorporate into a future build. You will find that your trailer is never done. Every gathering I have attended has me going home with a new idea that I try to figure out if it will work in my tear.

I have a manufactured tear by the Amish at Pleasant Valley and if they saw it now they might not recognize it as one of theirs. There may be some advantage to not having your trailer finished as you never know what your going to see that you must have as part of your build.

If you come with a tent you will not be the only one. All are welcome.

I have not been on this forum for a long time. I will be there but if it is cold I know Cheryl will go home at night. I saw on an earlier post that we would like the keys to the shelter on Friday night. I will see what I can do. The old park supervisor has retired after 25+ years. I am not sure how took over but if it who I think it is there should not be a problem getting the keys if the shelter is not being used.

Glad to see all are interested in the 7th cooler near the lake. I always enjoy this outing and the place couldn't be better due to the convenience of the shelter but this year it will be warmer near the lake. It is overdue for a nice sunny warm weekend.

It will be good to see you both again. It only happens once a year, so we have to make the best of it.

Dennis,

Good to hear from you. If you can get the keys for Friday that would be great, if not we are getting near the point that our shared cost for reserving the shelter for Friday also will only be $12.50 if we have 16 campers. See what you can do and let us know on the forum. We appreciate your efforts now and in the past. :applause:

I was just at the park office and talked with the park supervisor. Ask about getting the keys Friday night and it would be no problem if the shelter is not being used on Friday.

They also forecasted 70's and sunny. ;) :wine:

I have to start working on a new teardrop. We have had this one for 2 years and we are over due for a new one. The new one will have maple cabinets. I will give the old one to my daughter. The black walnut cabinets were nice but it is time for something new.
