Time is getting closer indeed - we put in the Air conditioner for a trial run - it worked perfectly! :D

So how will the rummage sale work? Do we put the items we want to sell in front of are campsite for people to check out while walking past? Or we having a shelter space where we can put inside and do it that way? I was just curious just in case it rains or anything else. And will the rummage sale go on for the whole time or just on one day or two days?

Also another idea and I am not sure if this is possible. But I see the Tv Shows of biker build off and car build off. And I know this is last min and not enough time to plan it but we could work with local vendors and home improvement places and get the items donated and tell them what it is for and for Childrens Hospital and have a Teardrop build off and have teams and do a build off and then at the end have a live auction to sell it off and the money goes to Childrens Hospital. This way we would get alot of media attention and also have people come to the event that don't have teardrops or small trailers and be able to be part of it. I think this would raise alot of money for a great cause. And we have so many talented builders that are very creative in design. And I am not sure if this was attempted before in the past and I am all new to this and this will be my first time to crossroads but with it being such a large group from people from all over the united states coming to this. We could really make this event even larger with bringing in vendors and media and other agencies.

Remember Orange County Choppers when they do Theme bikes we could do a Theme Teardrop for Childrens Hospital and auction it off. I have lots of ideas but it is something to think about if you all like to. And the next Crossroads event we could try something like this. Or maybe this is already being done in Crossroads event so I will have to wait and see. :D

I've just been informed that site #49 will be available due to health issues.

A great site, right in the heart of the activities.

Please let me know if you need to contact the current site owner.

Has anyone tried in there unit of putting in a Air Cooler you add water to it and the air runs across the water and puts out cold air. These are less expensive then A/C unit and less energy to run and does not need to be vented out. So it could sit on the floor in your unit. I heard they work well in homes and they are super quiet because it is just a electrical fan and water pump that you don't hear. But do you think it would bring down the temps on a hot day inside your unit when camping? They also call these units Swamp Coolers, Desert coolers, air coolers, and a bunch of other names as well .

A simple example of natural evaporative cooling is perspiration, or sweat, secreted by the body, evaporation of which cools the body. The amount of heat transfer depends on the evaporation rate, however for each kilogram of water vaporized 2,257 kJ of energy (about 890 BTU per pound of pure water, at 95°F) are transferred. The evaporation rate depends on the temperature and humidity of the air, which is why sweat accumulates more on hot, humid days, as it does not evaporate fast enough.

The evaporation rate depends on the temperature and humidity of the air,

There in lies the rub.

90+ temps are generally accompanied with 90% humidity here in Indiana in the dog days of summer.

There is so much humidity you can drowned in your own sweat without a bit of evaporative cooling.

Just spring for a $99.00 window shaker and duct it into a window. You have paid for the electricity why not use it.

One low budget thing that I have found that does work is the micro misters where a pump delivers the water in a ultra fine mist generally aided by a fan. There is not enough extra moisture to soak you but the mist is cooling and the bugs won't bug you as they can't fly in the very humid mist. You might have to make more than a few trips to the water hydrant though.

Thanks Bob for explaining that in detail .I was not sure and I see them becoming more popular now so I wanted to ask the pros who have experienced them or read about them. I have a A/C already I just wanted to know more about the Air Cooler units and see if they do as good as they review at online.

Where do you live and camp? It is my understanding that they really only work in dry climates.

A swamp cooler? They work great if you live in a place with dry air.....if your humidity is even remotely high, they just don't work well. They need to evaporate to work.

In a place like Nevada, they probably would work well....but in indiana, forget about it!

Also, think about this, how much water/ice would you need to carry? Water weighs about 8 lbs a gallon....my AC might add 40 lbs. that's not much water.
