Scott If we didn't like ya we would just ignore ya.

We all know you work hard and odd hours so sleep in if ya want just send the boys down to grandma Vickies she doesn't know a stranger and loves kids.

Thanks for all you do for the chapter also !

Being this nice is so out of character for me I am going away now to think up some sleep jokes and other Mary Kay Cosmetic's barbs.

A Sunday breakfast pitch in, perhaps Saturday too, should be a must do. In my book breakfast is the best meal of the day and I can't do without Kurt's waffles. :coffee:

By doing group breakfasts it leaves the day open for whatever we want to do. I've never been there before and don't know what to expect.

I like the idea of a Sunday breakfast get together. We can pig out swap lies and tall tales and it will gives us a chance to say our Hi's and Good by's.
Leaving a very full weekend with a full belly and ready for the drive home.
Just my opinion :D

Kurt,

From the time tax season ends on April 15, till Jan 1, I guess you could say I am semi retired. I go to the office for a few hours every day but usually leave by 11 am. What I don't know is how I would get everything done around the house that needs to be done if I had to work every day. Of course I complain to Cindi about all that I have to do and she just reminds me that she works EVERY day. I never have been able to get any sympathy out of her.

Just to give you an idea of the stress I am under. Do you realize that I have to attend a tax seminar on Thursday 8/14 untill 12:30 and won't be able to head to Madison until it's over. And here I thought I would be an early bird. It will be almost 6 pm till I get there.

Congratulations on your retirement. :applause: :applause: Now you will have time to keep up on the soap operas.

She will be at Madison for a visit next week you two should talk.

Bob, that's great. I'm always looking for things to keep me busy. It's not too hard because the forum and the gatherings are always interesting and we all take an active part in planning and enjoying our fellow campers.

Thinks like this forum will keep my mind sharp just listening to you and the others who participate.

The hardest part is budgeting money. Now with more time on my hands, I need to pay attention to the end of the month funds.

I don't want to have "too much month at the end of my money"

One thing that's important to know. Madison has 30amp and 50 amp service, however, the outlets are not standard 110v (two prong plugs).

You will need to get and adapter plug to use a standard 110v extention cord.
These can be purchased at Lowes, Home Depot, etc for a few bucks. Walmart might even have some. Here is a picture for your reference.

Oh I'm glad to here that. I'm headed to Home Depot in a bit to pick up some parts I'll get one of those also.

So you plug that into there outlets and then plug your extension cord into that? I've never camped anywhere that needed one of those.

Exactly. ;)

Scott, buy a couple extras if you find them. I'll pay you back. I'm sure some of the campers will either forget or will not be able to find one.

Thanks

Porch light!

Postby Nitroxjunkie71 » Tue Aug 05, 2008 3:54 pm

Hi all.

This is a little off subject but I am positive everyone can get back on track. I had to take a moment to throw Bob an "On Air" Atta boy. Knowing I like those things Nautical, Bob ran across what we think is a ships causeway light. This thing is pretty stout and is solid brass. I have had the light along with a few other things (Nautical) he gave me for some time now but figuring out exactly where I wanted it and how to go about the process brought on an unnecessary delay on my part.
I ventured out to the country this past weekend with the "Topside Inn" in tow and after some serious arm twisting by Bob (My arm still hurts) we started. I personally think Bob just wanted to cut holes in my trailer but who am I too say! Before I knew it the light was wired for both 12v & 110 and after a trip into town to pick up a switch box and some switches it was (Almost) done. Thanks again Bob for all the help and great hospitality while I was there. The 12v / 110v combo set up sure is the way to go. I still have some interior work to do and will post some more photos when this is complete

The Deepest spot in Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes is 1,333 feet or about 222 fathoms. This profound depth could easily contain the entire 1,250' Empire State Building, even with a 50-foot-tall King Kong perched atop.

Hi Kurt,

Thank you for the heads up on the electric hookup!

When I looked at the campgrounds Website I found mention of the 50 Amp service...but nothing about 30 Amp...

Without meaning to offend you, have you seen the boxes there or found another source?
Could it be that they only have 50 Amp services (different adaptor needed), or is their Website lacking in detail?

Rob, no offense taken , it's a good question. I'm not sure why the don't say anything about 30 amp, but since I've been going there (as recent as April this year) they have both 50 and 30 amp service.

I must qualify this by saying that I've never camped in the "pull thru sites" along Vaughn drive.

In fact, I have a special extention cord made fwith a 30 amp (three blade plug) just for Madison. (and so that my 25 year old doesn't borrow it).

It wouldn't hurt if you have a 50 amp plug adapter, but the"normal" back in sites have always had 30 amp plugs.

If a different adapter is needed, I'm not aware of it. :)

back to Madison..... I gave the 1 week warning shot via E-mail to channel 13 and across Indiana. I figure if I badger them enough they might just show up to get me off their back :D

Bob

Also contacted the Madison Courier and the Louisville Courier Journal for what it worth. Maybe we can get a write up on our little get togethers yet !!!
