The Deepest spot in Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes is 1,333 feet or about 222 fathoms. This profound depth could easily contain the entire 1,250' Empire State Building, even with a 50-foot-tall King Kong perched atop.

 Thank you Jeff just what I was looking for.
Do they only read the surface of a solid object or will they read air temp and the temp of a liquid?

Scott, I posted a link last night but I guess it didn't register. Nitro's price is better anyway.

Mine seems to read the surface; not the air. I never tried it on water.

I'd be curious it would be nice for checking hot oil in a DO or Amy's deep fryer.

Either plan to have one before the next outing. Thanks for the info

Your welcome Scott. There is a Harbor Freight not 4 miles from my place so if you want me to pick one up for you let me know. I deliver to Eden Elementary in Greenfield every Tuesday so if your in the area we can make the exchange. Or I can always bring it to Salamonie. If I can help in any way just let me know.

Might just do that, still trying to decide which I like. did you notice that the one on the right in the 2 ads says the temp goes up to 472F but the reading on the thermometer says 730F, not that that matters I don't think I'd ever cook at 472 let alone 730F  But the one on the left just looks cool.

So what time are you at the Eden elementary? I drive by there everyday on my way home from work.

Once you decide just let me know. The temps are a little off aren't they?
I just started a new Anderson school rout this past Tuesday with Eden in GField being moved to my last stop so I can't give you a precise time. This week was a huge learning curv trying to find my way around up north. I arrived there around 2:00 this week but it will be earlier (I hope) next week now that I know where the schools are.

I have the Centech smaller of the two and yes, it will read ambient air temperatures. The laser is useful in reading how hot your brakes are or and other tasks such as liquids as well. The instructions will detail how to use it in either mode. Hope this helps..
