Now that we have at least (3) contestants; it's time for some contest "rules"

Fishing Contest will be held on Friday and Saturday. Any hours from 12:01am Friday until 1:00pm Saturday will count.

The winner will be the one who catches the most "fish" *.

Not measured by weight, but just the most "fish" *(or lake dwelling eurchins).

They can be any variety including snakes, frogs, and turtles (snagged clothing, tires, cans, nets, etc., and other campers don't count)

The contest should end early in the day (1:00pm) so that the fish can be cleaned and cooked for the Pitch-in on Saturday evening.

The above rules are subject to change.

The whole idea, of course, is to have "fun" so the rules can't be too complicated or requiring a lot of thought.

If anyone has an idea for an alternate set of contest rules, please bring them forward.

There could be legal size requirements for the fish per state regulations. But it sounds like fun. Now, if I could only get my kayak back from my separated wife.

Thanks Dan, I figured you'd have the answer. Snakes and turtles are "catch and release" I assume. I know I'm not trying to get the hooks out if one comes up.

This could be a very fun gathering  8)

Turtles won't eat much (other than bait) and snakes don't chew....

Provided we get moved back in...I'm in !!

We need a reason to get outta here!

Do crank phones count as a spinner bait ??

Billy we hope you can make it. This will be a very loose and informal contest but the most "live" things brought ashore will count.

:dancing There will also be a nice prize for the winner. :dancing :P

ALERT ! ALERT !

I 65 is a one lane pot hole infested mess between Seymour and Scottsburg you may want to think of US 31 as an alternate.
The heavy construction is between mile markers 50 and 30. I was talking to Whitney and he will chime in in a bit on a county road route from Crothersville to within 1/4 of the park entrance.

I totally agree with Bob. During portions if the day, the traffic is at a total standstill. US 31 is a much safer alternative.

OK, for the little more venturesome folks (which is most of us I think) there is an alternative to the super slab that is a mess right now as Bob mentioned above.
Hwy 31 is an alternate route that parallels I-65, is a fairly good 2 lane road that brings you through several small towns in Indiana. Most of which only have one stop light each. Crothersville (36 miles North of Louisville) is "parallel" with Starve Hollow across the bottom of our county.

For those coming from the South (put your shoes on before you cross the river please  ) if traffic starts looking bad, you may want to consider getting off at exit 19 and head East over to Hwy 31 (1/2 mi) then go North. I noted three options on the map below.

All pretty good roads. (If you're on Hwy 31 these exit numbers are only for reference)
Exit 34 (Austin) - 256 - 39 - is all Hwy and shoots straight across the bottom ground before you turn off on County Road 700S (there's an old church on the Southwest corner)
Exit 36 (Crothersville) - Main St/600S - 700S is all typical county road, mostly smooth with a few rough spots and occasional farm machinery. (this is the road we travel to go fishin')
Exit 41 (Uniontown) - 250 - 50 - 135 is all good Hwy

Those coming from the North may want to consider getting off at Exit 55/Hwy11S and follow the signs to Hwy 50W or take your chances getting to Exit 50 (Seymour can be a bear getting through on Friday afternoons - getting too much traffic for it's own good IMHO). I didn't make a map for those coming from the North, but if you can't figure it out on your map, give me a shout.

Hope this helps
