Count me in (except for Oct 5,6,7)
There is a really good (and big) battle of 1812 (called Battle of Mississinewa) re-enactment very close to the lake. If you like this kind of stuf, you'll like this one.

I live about 20 minutes from the lake so I'm all in.

Scott, actually, I go to an outing in Newport Indiana that weekend and I'd hate to miss it.
That said, a local gathering would be fun too. I'm not sure about the crowd at the campground during the 1812 thing.
Let me check out the campground and see what it's like.

I was thinking I could bring the kids they'd love the show and a friend of mine has a boat he's gonna bring. it will be to cold to swim but we can float around.
It really wouldn't matter what weekend Sep or Oct, Mississinewa sounds great I love boating there and that's what I have in mind.

Scott, I took a ride today to check out the camp ground. It's crowded but not too bad in the "Loops" such as #370 thru #376. I'm sure these are popular sites.

It's not as nice as Turkey Run but then there is boating on the lake which is a big draw.
The weekend that was mentioned (Oct 5-6-7-8 ) would be good if anyone is interested in the battle re-enactment.
Let's see how much interest there is and maybe I can reserve some sites.

Hello from Upland, Indiana.. Kurt i finally found this web and registered today. We are interested in the 1812 camping at Mississinewa, this would be our first camp out... We usually camp near the State Park on the weekends. When we find the time. So we would love to hear back some info about it, and if we can join.... By the way we have alot of talking to do about your teardrop. I was looking at it when your son had it...It looks great....... Thanks Jarred and Misty Luckey

Jared & Misty, Stay tuned to this site for updates on the campout. Nothing is final but it appears that there could be interest in the Mississinewa Lake camp out.
Amanda (Kyle's girl friend) sent me a cell phone picture of yours. It looks good and I'd like to see more of it.

Although I have'nt camped here, the Salamonie lake looks nicer than Mississinewa Lake.

Campsites on the Lake are available now for October 5-7
Anyone have a comparison to offer??

That's the Google Earth image. The water level is very low in the picture. All of the sandy areas are usually under water.
My son boats here every weekend and has stayed at the sites (on the point). He said it was really nice. I'm only going by hear-say but I'll check it out a soon as I can.

That's a neat looking place, My friend with the boat says he's seen it up on the hill from the water and thinks it looks neat. Kind of like camping on an Island
