We are camping :) at Thomson Causeway run by the Core of Engineer on the Mississippi River and want to invite anyone or everyone to come and join us the weekend of September 5-8th. This campground fills up fast. We wanted a site right on the river but somehow we missed out already. The sites just opened up for reserving. The cost is $16 per night. To reserve just go to: http://www.recreation.gov/ and type Thomson Causeway in the park or facility name.
We have site #103 in HPOI loop. Look forward to seeing other teardropper's and campers come. ;)

I have site 107 booked. 8) :applause:
Thanks for putting this out there early Tina and Jerry. Thomson Causeway is really popular and it should be a great time along the Mighty Mississippi River.

We'd love to join you...We wouldn't be able to get there until later Friday evening and need to be out by 3 on Sunday...darn school gets in the way of the fun! I'll have to talk with Craig about it and see if we can do this.

Betsey,
Hope you guys can make it, it is a pretty campground. But I know how it makes for a quick weekend.

Glad to see Tom and Jim can make it.

Forgot :duh: to say in the original note that Thomson, Illinois is located in Northwestern Illinois - approximately 1 hour south of Dubuque, Iowa and 45 min north of the Quad Cities or Interstate 80 on Illinois Hwy 84.

Darrel & Joanne,

Woohoo! :woohoo: Glad to hear you can make it! :dancing

And if our sites aren't good, we'll go across the road and take up residence in Tina & Jerry's or Jim's.

Gonna be a fun time!

I don't know if I can stand it. My woody is going to look like fire wood surrounded by all those nice shiny Camp Inns. Maybe if I get my new camo canopy up everone will just think its a log in the woods

Well, if it makes you feel any better...ours isn't shiny anymore...and it has some battle scars, which I have been informed, give it "character." (Although I think the reference has more to do with the characters who own it... ) ;) Maybe they're more like postcards of teardrop travels and experiences - "And here's the great signpost incident of 2003..." Trust me, don't ask...

Betsey, Sounds like a great campfire story. :campfire: I can hardly wait.

Tina and Jerry did you know there is a small campout just up the river from you on April 11-13 at Whitewater SP MN

Oh, I'm sure it is...it gets better everytime I hear it!

But then there is also the "Lawn Mower Debacle of 2002," the "Garage Fiasco of 2005,"....need I continue?

And lest anyone think I am a jinx, an inept driver, careless or just plain bad luck, I wasn't responsible for ANY of these nor was I even around when they happened.

And why, pray tell, would they want to come to the frozen tundra of the north to attend a popsicle gathering when they can enjoy the balmy trade winds of their southern clime?

Weather Alert: We (and Whitewater SP) are under a Winter Storm Warning for pre-dawn Thursday into Thursday evening....forecast for 6"-8" of snow

On second thought, Tina & Jerry, can we move the gathering to your place the weekend of the 11-13?
