Camping in the Midwest, including Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin & Kentucky. Also includes Buckeye, Hoosier and BlueGrass Tearjerker chapters

In all my years of Wisconsin State Park camping, I have never made a reservation before Memorial day or after Labor day. The parks always have vacancies this early in the year, so I can't bring myself to send off the additional reservation fee. So we will be there, at the best available site.....

I checked the park yesterday and the only site with snow provided is site 22, everyone else will have to bring their own or haul it from the main parking lot. There is enough snow on the edge of the parking lot for everyone. Yesterday was clean up day and there were many volunteers cleaning the park. It should look very nice when we get there. If you can, get there as early on Friday as practical because that sounds like the best day so far, sunny and in the high 50's.
There is room in the park for anyone who decides at the last minute to show up. It wont be right near us but there are so many really nice sites that no one would be disappointed

Lately I have been thinking of adding pontoons to my trailer. I think today was the first full day without some rain (or snow, sleet, hail, frogs, etc..) falling from the sky in the last month.
I finally got around to building the inside cabinet doors, and it finally got warm enough to start putting some polyurethane on them. Added a curtain for the window, a tongue box, and an exterior electric outlet. I still have a few more small projects to keep my mind off the fact that I want to go camping NOW! :campfire:

1 camper out

Postby gdpipkorn » Mon Apr 25, 2011 8:37 pm

I pulled the camper out tonight. When I opened the door there was such an adrenalin rush I almost lit a fire! Diane would not be happy if I burned the house.

There will be another teardrop at the gathering. He is not on the boards, hasn't been for the over a year he has owned his trailer.
I don't know where he is staying, but Chad will be there.

I wanted to let you all know that Nan & I will not make it to CNTL 5. I have Gout and it settled in my right hand, this time. I have had it a few years now, and it has flared up in my right foot, left knee, and my hands, one at a time, it usually goes away in about 2 weeks, so I got a week to go. :x

Woodbutcher will be getting the shelter key, so no worries there. He also asked me how I did the scrambled eggs. I told him I cooked and Nan served, so since he will be by himself, he may need a volunteer to serve up the eggs. I'm sorry you all will have to make your own coffee. Hope you all have a great time.

Stay Dry & Warm by the fireplace. Doug & Nan :( :(

Well, the"Little Tow" has one working door and one stationary one. The hatch will be a tarp screwed in place with boards.

I got the tail lights connected tonight and they work great.

We plan to hook up and give it a test tow tomorrow after work to make sure our little Caliber can pull it ok.

If that test pull goes well, we plan to head up Saturday morning. Don't want to try totow and set up in the dark. Will also probably need Friday night to get it packed, etc.

So it looks like we will be seeing eberyone there on Saturday!!!

Kool Kevon can't wait to see your progress. Glad to hear you will make it.
I'm all packed just waiting for my gang to get her. Last minute shopping and we hit the road tonight.
Added our goodies for friday nights snacks and such to the meal list.

Test tow: SUCCESS!!!!!

Took the Little Tow out of the garage for the very first time and took it for a test tow out in the country a few miles

Our little Caliber pulled it fine!

So it looks like we should be able to make it up there on Saturday
