That's weird . . . why would you think I wasn't coming ? This will be my 5th cooler near the lake (First one was at Racine) . . . I think that gives me a perfect attendance record ? And my computer never crashed . . .

Not sure if I'll be in early enough Friday, so still thinking about that one . . .

How about Trader Joes cold smoked salmon and maybe a 2nd flavor of cream cheese to go with Carol's bagels (maybe we should bring a toaster ? ) for Sat morning.

Dinner will be a mild DO Chili - just tested a half size (10 inch DO) recipe of a Turkey/bacon/sausage Chili tonight and it worked fine.

I'll let Redgloves/Jean make the Spam call . . . apparently she really does like it !?

It is an unwritten law in Minnesota that if you wish to be a resident, you must pledge your allegiance to SPAM. :o

Doug, you are a good guy, always helping me with my waist line. Since I am only grilling Flank steak for dinner, I will make a DO desert. Not sure what yet but I will come up with something. Maybe another Chocolate Cherry Cake. If it stays this cold I can bring ice cream and just leave it out on the picnic table till we need it!

 I guess maybe it's because I'm new but I looked at the list on the other thread about the event itself and didn't see your name, and then with the comments about the temp, I thought you might be someone from a different region, making fun of us northerners. I'll be sure and add your items to the list.

All this talk about SPAM brings back memories. My mom used to make the absolutely white trashiest "Spamwiches". SPAM, Velveeta cheese, Miracle Whip, and onion mixed into a paste in a blender. Smear the lovely pink mixture on white hamburger buns and place under a broiler until slightly browned and bubbly. Serve that with some store brand potato chips and you would be the culinary envy of any trailer park.
If this was on the Food Channel they would call it a mousse, spread it on a rustic Italian bread, and charge you $25 as an appetizer.

Seems that all meals need to be centered around creative uses of SPAM.
Maybe Hormel will be a sponsor :D
