Here is something I've seen done before.
You bring along a battery charger and charge your battery at the bath room.
You just have to hope no one walks off with you stuff.

Yup! That about sums it up! I would however highly recommend an umbrella, rainjacket, and bug spray. The weather at the ADK can be changeable and the no-seeums can be brutal. Not so bad last year but the year before several of us left looking like we had the chicken pox. :?
Really though, a gas lantern, a flashlight, and a gas stove, or a cooking grate for the campfire should take care of most of your basic needs. You'll be too busy meeting everyone and checking out everyone's trailers you won't have time to notice that you don't have electricity!

BTW...If you home brew or have a favorite beer that you'd like to share feel free to stop by my site (#231) Friday evening for the 2nd Annual Friday Night Pints beer tasting...This is not a keg party mind you...but a fun and civilized get together to share tastes in different beers. Details are a few pages back in this thread.

I'm new to the teardrop world having just bought my very first teardrop (after a long time of wish and planning and dreaming and lurking). I'll be traveling from Vermont to western PA that weekend so could only come to the TearUp for the night of the 9th. I tried to reserve either site 251 or 255 for that night since they are available but you have to reserve for at least 3 nights. So I was hoping the folks who have either of those sites reserved for the rest of the weekend might be willing to reserve it for the night of the 8th as well and let me reimburse them.

Are the site 251 or 255 folks here? Is something like this allowed?

thanks in advance!

Hi Vladadog!

There will be lots of sites available for June 9th (one night). You're best bet would be just to not bother with a reservation. Just show up and you'll get a site close to the group. Actually site 257 is a walkup site. It is highly unlikely anyone will be on that site on the 8th. Simply arrive, and ask for a site with the TearUp Group. On the 9th you should have LOTS of sites to choose from. Ask if 257 is available and you should be good to go. Saves the $9 reservation fee as well.

I checked reservations and here are a list of sites what should be available for Thurs June 9th as campers on those sites don't come in until the following day:

218, 233, 234, 236, 251, 255, 265, 266, 267, 268, 269 etc
257 should be available as well as its a walkup.

Cheers!

Sounds good. I know I won't get the full TearUp effect just being there on Thursday night but I'm really looking forward to seeing other teardrops and meeting folks.

 :applause: Great stuff! Can't wait to try it!
Who else is brewing their own for Friday Night Pints at my site?? There's got to be more than one home brewer in this group. It's ok if you don't brew your own though. Come by anyway and bring some of your favorite local brew for the sampling.

Moving this again so people see it LOL!!!

As some of you may already be aware of, we have done a food drive the past 2 years, 2009 & 2010. We started it as a way to give back something to the local community in an area that we all love & enjoy spending time in. The food pantry that we donate to is located in Lake Placid, in the basement of St Agnes Church. It is not affiliated with the church, they just use the space. They cover a very large area & they have seen more & more need over the past few years. We are very impressed by this food pantry & by the people who run it, they are lovely & caring & thankful!! We have donated quite a bit of food & some money the past 2 years.

All we ask is when you are packing up to come camping or if you run to the store while you are camping...pick up a can of tuna or a box of pasta or some other non-perishable food items or personal care products. Some people have given us one item others have given us boxes full....every little bit helps...

Please, one request....We cannot accept the food items at our campsite until Saturday morning, we will not have a spot to store the food. You can either walk it over to us & make sure you introduce yourselves or we will make a quick drive through before we head to Lake Placid....last year we filled the back of John & Clare's Escape!!! Our site is 236

As a little incentive.....Mary(of Bob & Mary) is a very talented quilter & she has donated a quilt the past 2 years & everyone who donates gets their site number placed in a drawing to win the quilt. One entry per site please, doesn't matter it you donate one item or 10 items, your site gets entered once....thanks for considering this & we hope to meet all of you new & old & Let's Fill The Truck!!!!

Some Items To Donate....to name a few

Pasta
Jars of Sauce
Mac & Ch
Peanut Butter
Tuna
Baby Food
Coffee
Juice
Personal Care Items-soap, toothpaste, etc

Good job Ed and Becky, the quilt is all done and ready to whoever donates to the food pantry. Now more than ever people need help with feeding familys. You guys are great for setting this up,

We will bring some stuff for the food drive. I've been involved with the Capital District Cruisers for years, we put on big cruise-ins for hot rods, street rods, classic and antique cars at Guptil's Rollerena in Latham NY the 2nd Monday of June, July, August and September, and the major charity we support is the regional food bank. Entry to the cruise-in is one non-perishable food item. God knows there are plenty of folks who are in desperate need, and I am so pleased this drive is going on with TD&TTT folks. A big thanks to Mary for doing the quilt!

We hope to be picking up our '79 Sunline Sunspot a week from this coming Saturday (the 14th), and if all goes well, we'll see y'all at the TearUp.

And I'll give Frank some canned goods from me when he picks up the SunSpot. If I can't be there, I can at least send the food bank some stuff they can use!

Boy, that would be great Pat. I look forward to seeing you Saturday, and would be pleased to bring any donation you provide along for the food drive. Thank you.

Best of luck this week.
