Pot luck is Sat night... when most people are there since we have varing arrival/departure dates.

I'll put together a list of what people have mentioned they will be bringing tommorrow.

Weather is looking great still!

Kate and I enjoyed a great day at FCP on Thursday night and ensured all campsites were clean and ready for tearing up LOL. We re-analyzed the sites.. I think Steve and Phyllis have the best spot! Close to the 'facilities' too.

Spent a great day here in Lake Placid today.. .balmy day, sunshine and all.

Oh yes... blackflies are minimal at FCP.... Kate may differ... listen to me though!! :D

Cheers!

We never told you what we were bringing for the pot luck. We will bring deviled eggs. We are first timers, does everyone bring their own meat to grill or do we just eat what is in the pot?? :?

Pat and I will be bringing Pigs in a blanket or Cabbage rolls as some people call them. Maybe some cookies too. I have been packing for a week and the tear is getting mighty heavy. :(
Good day every day!

We have a canoe on order to be delevered to our site from Hitchcock's boat, 518-891-3328. We are getting an Old Town Discovery 158, oars, & PFD's for $22.00 a day. Good deal I think. Get ready for a couple of rookies, Bill...
4 days until we leave.

Hey Dennis,

Dennis the 158 OT is a great boat, nice & stable, but a bit heavy 80-85 lbs. ,so watch that back.Seats are great too.,bring an old towel to throw over them as the get HOT in the sun. As long as neither of you sit facing the opposite way,and try to paddle{seen it done already}you will be Ok. That same boat around here rents for $45 a day,so you done great. Bring the waterblaster squirt guns for some real fun!

I would rent one but you can't solo the 158 because of the way the seats are made,my boat you can,so I have to drag mine along. Ours is all custom outfitted for luxury{Joan likes that}. I could have saved the rental cost in gas to come up,oh well.

Be sure to save us all some wedding cake if you have leftovers

Wedding cake it is!! I'm also bringing cookies, and other remnents from the wedding reception.

I have about 20 tall candles from the centerpieces. They'll come in handy around the camp site.

We are spending the night in Westfield, NY. Tomorrow we will arrive at FCP. Looks like the weather is changing by the minute. Oh, well, I'm  prepared for about anything.

See you soon.

TearUp Update

Postby campadk » Mon Jun 11, 2007 8:55 am

Thanks for posting the list Marc. Just missing us, which means adding Adirondack potatoe skins to the list.

Looking forward to all the food and finishing the meal off with a Saranac Pale Ale and wedding cake! 8)

Weather is really looking great now! Thurs thru Tues should be perfect! Pretty warm too.

As far as activities go (besides eating a LOT at Saturdays pot luck), we have the canoe/kayak outting, trip to the
wild center, horse shoe olympics and two other secret activities that Diane and Steve/Phyllis are doing. No definate
days/times for these... we'll sort it out once there and organize things for Saturday and Sunday which is when most
campers will be around.

If we get some decent sunsets (likely), Kate and I will be doing sunset cruises up on Upper Saranac Lake for
those interested.

Sorry to hear you can't make it Jim. Hopefully we can arrange the TearDown again.

We've been enjoying some great weather lately down the road from FCP, here in Lake Placid including some
excellent kayaking on Saturday...

I will really try to make it up late Friday/very early Sat, or at least in the AM Sat. I'll make frosted brownies again for the pot luck. I just got a used Kayak from a friend tonight. Its a Perception Spirit, about 12' long, closed cockpit, about 2' wide. I'll try to use it before I come up, if not I'll need some supervision and guidance from the "experts". Make sure you have your :pictures: I might go in the drink a few times.

You should be OK,Ray. That boat is stable. 2 minutes of basic instruction, and you will be on your way. {Note to self, bring rescue gear} LOL

I will be bringing all 5 of my PFD's{life vest} If anyone needs to borrow one. The Canoe rental place can supply them with a rental.

Kinda sounds with late arrivals we will hold the main paddle tour Saturday afternoon starting just after lunch. Should be back by 4-5 Pm in time for the pot luck. I will be out paddling the lake other days,so anyone that wants to tag along, can. Weather{as of now} sounds perfect. Don't forget to bring sunblock, and sun glasses, glare off the water can be bad.
