Yea, I'll be in the area a few days before the gathering and a week after. Lorie is flying into Jackson Hole on Friday the 18th for the gathering. The gathering is a good excuse for me to spend a couple of weeks flyfishing in Wyoming.

Please put me on your maybe list. I'm a pretty serious maybe. I had been trying to plan a trip to Wyoming in September but it looks likes nights might be pretty cold by then and it would sure be fun to make some new teardrop friends in your area. I will be coming from Central VA and would be interested in coordinating travel with others coming from the East, but want to take my time and see some sights along the way. Anyone interested in travelling west at a scenic pace?

28 is pretty chilly but I have probably camped at that temp in WV. I have a heated mattress pad which works great but it requires hookups... I don't think my battery would keep it going long. I was thinking September because I was going to try to go to some football games in OK & Tx before & after the WY trip. I've pretty much decided to scrap that plan:

(1) it will be nice to not be on a schedule - except for the gathering schedule,
(2) it will fun to meet some new folks at the gathering, and
(3) maybe august nights will be a little warmer than Sept nites....? :frightened:

Ha..you can count on I will NOT be fixing breakfast @ 3 am. Especially in grizzly bear country. Getting up in the night is not usually needed unless I drink a lot of beer right before bedtime but if the mercury is dropping fast that should be a good reminder. I will learn a lot about WY! Also about taking a long trip in my TD, which was my plan when I got it. If I love this trip, next summer will be AK. So maybe I will learn some good travel tips on this trip!

Hello, I live in Granby, Colorado and just finished hand building a Teardrop. I have been looking for Teardrop groups and gatherings and came across the postings on the Walk The Winds 2012. I am interested in meeting other Teardrop owners and would like to know what I need to do to be allowed to attend this event. Thanks, lpiechocki

Hi Ipiechocki,

Well we do have some strict rules to attend. First, You must want to come. You must want to meet new people. You must want to have a lot of fun. You must love to eat and enjoy the open air with like minded people. That's all there is to it. We would love for you to join us! Most of those attending have never met. But before the first night has passed you will think we've all known each other for years. That may sound strange but it is true. If this sounds good to you, just post you will be joining us and I will add you to the list. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. We hope you join us!

I thought you had to be really careful about having food out at night, maybe in particular if you are the only one out of your camper. We only have black bears in VA & they are pretty timid but I have had one on my porch when I am cooking at night. Also one climbed all over my car looking for food. I might have left a hamburger wrapper in there.

You have to be careful in Yellowstone, if you're going there. I think the national parks are worse than elsewhere because of all the people. With so many people in the national parks, there are bound to be some people that are really stupid or just don't care. Bears seem to know this. The national park bears aren't stupid.

Regardless of where, it's best to be careful. You don't want to teach the naive bears new tricks! As the saying goes: "A fed bear is a dead bear!"

Here comes that bear thread again...... LOL

The WHOLE area has bears! Both Black & Grizz!! We will definately want to keep a clean camp! DO NOT leave your coolers outside when not doing food prep. Lock up your stoves & grills in a hard sided vehicle. Do not dispose of dish water on the ground. If your bringing your dog do not allow them to roam free. Keep their food & water stored when not in use. The odds that we see a bear in camp will be slim to none. If we keep a clean camp I assure you it will be none! Trust me, you do not want to be suprised by this guy when ya get up in the middle of the night!!

Steve/Woodbutcher, please add me to the list. I can't wait to see the other Teardrops to find out what I did right or wrong with my build. I enjoyed it when I took it to Lake Granby for a weekend last September on its maiden trip. I plan to take out the ice box and put in a 3way fridge next month. My Lt. already approved my vacation request for August and I notified the D.A. that I will be gone. Thanks, lpiechocki
