Macy and I will be leaving Friday around 5 pm. It is about 330 miles and will take us about 6 hours to arrive. After 11 PM probably. Will we be able to get into the park? Who should we share a spot with?. Do not want to wake up anyone.

Larry - I tried to call the park to see if you will be able to get in but no one was there. I'll call them in the morning.

I looked over the State Park rules and quiet time starts at 11 but didn't see anything about the gate.

I'll be there around midday , 2pm ish ... and can figure on doubling with someone or keep the fires burning for a late arrival.

I'll wait till we get there to figure that out I guess.... ya'll know what the Jewel Box looks like, star shaped lights around the canopy and this time coming in a red pickup truck.

see ya !!!

I called Nick at the State Park and they do not close the entry gate at night. They have a self pay station for vehicle pass' or he said you can just come see him on Saturday. The parks 75th anniversary celebration is this weekend also, surprised nothing about the events on the web site, and they are having a chili cookoff on Saturday, a kayak water safety certification thing that I didn't quite understand and live bluegrass music. Weather is looking awesome, can't wait.

Hey everyone,
I'm going to try to zip on down there Saturday morning and see what teardrops are all about. I'm in the "I want to build, but need some ideas" phase right now. Ft. Scott is just a couple of hours away, and this could be a great day trip.

Hope to see you there. :)

Thanks Darren for the info about late arrivals. Macy and I will be there when we get there. Great to not have to worry about arriving before a possible gate closure. Weather does look to be very favorable. Just looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones.
Mountain Man Breakfast, chili cook-off, pot-luck dinner, can't wait.

I wonder where the chili cook off is , or if it's worth going to maybe catch free lunch on Saturday ? !

Hvysteel... get ready , you'll be blown away with different ideas, but it's great that you can come by ... Be sure to lay down inside, lift the hatch, ask ANY question...

Hee hee, I'm charging up the batteries, clearing out the memory cards and getting a couple of pens ready. I wish I didn't have to make it such a short trip, but if I plan this right and everything works out, I should be able to spend a few hours getting some ideas and dreaming. 8)
