Well everyone the time is getting close. I hope you all have begun to make your final plans for the gathering. Mike has been following the fires in Wyoming and he tells me we are now under an open fire burn ban at New Forks. That means as of right now no charcoal and no open camp fires. This I am told is part of living out west. While this could easily be lifted by the time we get together, we need to make some plans. We can still use Camp stoves and Propane fireplaces. For those with a Coleman Oven this would be a good time to use it. So our cooking MAY need to be more creative. Mike has a propane turkey fryer and we may be able to get a second one. Now we will not be able to "fry" in it, thus the creative part.

Our plans were to have most meals all together. Since we are coming from all over the place the idea is to spend meals together. During the day we will be out doing and site seeing, but we all need dinner! Since some are arriving on Thursday we thought to play dinner by ear. A meet and greet and maybe some appetizers or simple stuff to nibble on would be easy. People will arrive at all different times and planning something organized would be difficult. The rest arrive on Friday so we can have a group dinner. We can use the turkey fryers to steam dinner. For those who have never done this it is really good. We can also have a Brats and hot dogs steamed in Beer. Side dishes can be made the old fashioned way to round out the meals. Saturday Morning we can use the turkey fryer to do omelets. Craig and Betsey from Camp-Inn do this at their gathering for about 100 people and it works great. Basically you crack 2-3 eggs into a baggie. To that you add your fixins. Ham, onions, green pepper, cheese, mushrooms, whatever you like. Seal the bag. Shake it up some. Write your name on the bag and drop it into the boiling water and wait a few minutes. Whalla!, just like Denny's but without a check at the end. Sausage, bacon, fried potatoes, pancakes or waffles can be made on the stoves. Ya don't cook? Bring juice, cut fruit, donuts, what ever. It will be eaten.

This is where we are at right now. Soon I will start a separate thread for meals. Plan "A" will be fire ban lifted and we can use Charcoal and camp fires. We hope for this because Mike wants to show everyone how well he is doing with the Dutch Oven. 8) Plan "B" will be the steamed dinners. Breakfast is Omlets either way. But anyone wanting to do a Dutch Oven dish is more then welcome.

So start doing a "rain dance" and get this fire ban behind us. If not we will still have a great time. We just need to make adjustments.

Something else Mike mentioned. As high up as we are it can still get very cold over night. So bring some warm clothes and bedding for those cold nights. Over the 4th Mike camped and said it was 38 degrees in the morning. During the day is warmed into the 80's but it pays to be prepared. Let us know if you have thought or suggestions that will help on anything I have posted here.

Saturday night we will do a Gas lantern Light up for those that want to participate. Bring along your favorite lantern ! We did one at our Tear Jerker gathering in Galena a few weeks ago. This is what it looked like.

also I think hunybunch and me got our plans worked out so I have no escuse not to show up.

I am in kinda a bind as hunbunch has parents with a cabin by bonderant and is going on vacation right after the gathering so I can't really run off.

I am going to be in the area any ways.

so looks like I am going to be seeing you all on the 16th. if I don't panac and drive around pinedale for a while.

slow

Slow, unless something awful happens (heaven forbid!), your being there is a no-brainer and is expected. So, suck up any nerves or "stage fright" and be there. You'll love it and have a wonderful time. 'Ma' Sharon says.....

Slow its ok. Besides if you drive around Pinedale then someone is going to see you and think oh I will just follow them to the campsite and then another and another pretty soon we have a convoy of teardrops and Pinedale residents think its a parade. And then the theme to Convoy starts playing.

Slow,
You worry to much.
A few of us know each other in person, most of us don't.
So for most people you meet, it will be the first time in person. That is true for all of us. Trust me, it will be fun the see the real person instead of just a name on the forum.A lot of the folks coming to this gathering have been on the forum for quite a while and in the process we learn about each other a little bit here and there. Now you get to find out if the picture in your minds eye matches in person, or if you have missed the mark. So just sit back and enjoy...
It will be time to get back to our regular lives way to soon.

see you in about 5 weeks
