Is this gathering a GO? Has anyone made reservations yet?

Yep.. we are a go. We had planned to do a site visit this weekend on our way home from Illinois but with all the snow we decided to pass by it for now. We'll try and get up there again before August just to check things out.

Officially reserved site 27 this morning.

They do have a nearby shelter named the "Backbone Shelter". It is first come first serve. I'm hoping that we'll fill up most of the shaded camping sites and be able to use that.

Backbone Shelter – Pammel Park
The historic Backbone Shelter was built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corp using oak logs grown on the site and limestone quarried from nearby outcroppings. The Backbone Shelter has a large limestone fireplace and provides a beautiful setting for small groups, seating approximately 30 to 35 people. Backbone Shelter is available on a first come-first serve basis only.
Facilities:
Large Fireplace
Picnic table seating for up to 35 people (4 tables)
Modern Bathrooms (in nearby campgrounds)
Grills
Backbone Trail

I live in Winterset and would be willing to do any sort of "hands on" work that needs to be done in prep for the weekend.

I, sadly, am yet to own/build a teardrop or other TTT - so I'll leave the camping spot open for someone else.

I am excited to see you all come visit! Winterset is a beautiful town and Pammel Park is a quiet place- I am sure you will all love it!

That's a great offer! I wish we were able to make this one. Be sure to make it out and check out all the different trailers and gather up ideas for your own. :D

We don't care if you have a trailer. You are more than welcome to come and tent camp or just come and visit. If you come to visit plan it for dinner time on Saturday.
