Hello. I wanted to let others know I'm thinking about camping the weekend of April 19 at Watkins Mill near Kearney, MO or Weston Bend State Park. Before I reserve a site wanted to make sure I'm not missing any other gathering for the same weekend. Would like to meet some of you guys - others not so sure about (JUST KIDDING). :D

Darn work schedules are a pain.
Trudy has to work that Sat. and it is the slow doctor so it will be a late day. Tony, Kathy, Em and us, the once a month club, are planning on camping somewhere the next week end the 26th. We haven't decided where.
If you go to Watkins we might come over and visit late Sat. though.

There is talk on the Heart of America Tearjerkers site about camping at Knob Noster that weekend. 3 people have shown interist.

I've never been down to Knob Noster (assuming State Park) but could be interested in it. Looking online their campsites look pretty nice. I didn't see any mention of a bike trail or hiking nearby. Anyone know if there are either nearby there?

I may be able to postpone a weekend and join up with folks at Watkins on the 26 too, that or just go both weekends.

At Knob Noster there are several hiking trails and one hiking/biking/equestrian trail (McAdoo Trail). The trail is a seven mile circuit with a single fork that goes uphill to the equestrian camp. My eleven-year-old and I rode about halfway up from the bottom before my 50-year-old body said we're turning around. Unless you're in fairly good shape, I recommend starting at the top!

Best,
Tom

Anyone interisted in going to Knob Noster this weekend? The only reservable sites left are double sites, have to be reserved together. I'm thinking sites 10 and 11 so if anyone wants to go let me know.

I think Bob (FireLion) is going to be at site 7.

I'm in and will be at site 13 (don't need electricity). BTW, looks like 7 is still available online. Maybe see some of you there!
