Everybody is asking.... so here's the info....

Last Gasp of Summer 2009

When:
September 24th, 25th, 26th, & 27th 2009

Where:
Royal Gorge Campground Canon City, CO

For those that have GPS units, the coordinates for the campground are
N 38 27.916 W 105 17.510

This campground is City owned, therefore, no cost, it is PRIMITIVE!
There are 2 Pit toilets and no water. This is a true camping experience in our tears There is plenty of room for tents for non-teardrop owners. There is a KOA about 4 miles away for those who need cabins, or amenities. We will have to bring in firewood; there are fire pits and hopefully, depending on the weather, NO fire ban. There are 2 pavilions with 2 concrete tables in each. Additional tables can be put up outside of the pavilions. Bring your chairs too!

It will be cool to cold at night, bring extra blankets, heaters or what you may need to have a comfortable night! Stores are few and far between and prices a little higher than in town. Stock up

Map to Royal Gorge:
http://www.royalgorgebridge.com/Directions.aspx

Follow the signs from Highway 50 towards The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. Once past Buckskin Joes, the road will climb through some tight curves. You will encounter a tight hairpin curve that climbs to the left. After the curve, at the top of the hill, you will see a picnic area to your left, THIS IS NOT IT!

A little further on your left will be a dirt road. Take it and follow signs to the campground. We will have RED TEARDROP markers with red/white/blue streamers installed to help you find your way. The road is passable for two-wheel drive, however, may have some ruts. Watch for signs and be prepared for an awesome Colorado style camping experience!
Well do a pot luck supper Saturday night and I know a few guys are already packing up their dutch ovens Come up, lets have some fun!
There are some amazing things to see and do in the area, The Royal Gorge, the Arkansas River, hiking, biking, white water rafting and for more info: www.canoncitychamber.com

Love to see you there.... Come camp with me!!!!

Pam,
Hope to be there.
The problem is that archery elk season ends the same weekend.
Another last gasp. Maybe I can get two last gasps for the price of one.
I will be in the Leadville area so maybe I can swing by.

I'll definitely make it if my elk season is over early. Let's hope that happens. Nothing better than elk steaks on the barbeque.

Hello Pam

I'm a newbe just drooling to start a build  - but I need to get the better half on board first :worship: :applause: - I would love to make it down to Royal Gorge that weekend - I just hope my work schedule dosen't change - will be tenting for the night (Fri - Sat ) or at least we'll be there one of the days - would like to meet all the other TD's in our state and like to get some ideas for a build - right now I'm leaning toward a nodified Weekender design - the curves of the Benroys, and Grummans scare me :?

Hope to see you :D

I know I know... I have not kept in touch. I just talked to Amanda about coming out this year, our daughter will be 4 months old and Amanda is worried about no A/C or if needed, heat. Hum. Last year was great, I'll never forget sitting around the fire. I hope we can make it down for a night. Hum i wonder who makes the quietest generator with a small output (just enough for the petcool) lol.

I have exciting news, we are now only temperature dependant. I am having a hitch put on the CR-V so we dont need to bring both cars. so as long as it doesnt get too hot in the forcast, Amanda, baby Violet and I will be there. We will only be able to come Saturday and head out Sunday though, I'm working 3-11 Friday night. Anyone know of a place in Colorado Springs where I can get a 12v heated blanket for our daughter incase it gets too chilly?

Also does anyone have contact info for Dawn and Scott? (no idea what their forum name is. I think they are on the yahoo group though) I lost their number when my phone died :(

Count us in. We had such a good time last year, we are planning on being there again this year. I am going to shoot for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday if I can get time away from work.

Jason, did you ever find the 12v blanket locally? We were thinking of getting one so we can pre-heat the bed before crawling in.

I wish I could come! I love the campground at the Royal Gorge...I learned to teardrop camp there with Pam and George T. :applause:  8)

The weather is always beautiful this time of year...and even in March when waking up to 3 inches of snow it's still awesome, right Pam? :snow
