Charles and I camped in one of the National Forest camp grounds in Cloudcroft on our way to IRG 2.0 and returning home.

We asked the park host why another campground was closed on the way home and he told us it is a reservation only campground.
Well we enjoy the area so much we thought we would see how many folks would be interested in camping there next summer.

I took a picture from the gate but it didn't turn out very good as it was early and the road was long. There is a big pavillion also. Pit toilets, no electricity and no shower house but we can go up the road about a mile and use the showers at another campground which is only usable during the day as it is solar powered.

It is nice and cool on top of the mountain in July.

It looks like this may happen with the interest shown here and in the south central section.
I know it is a ways off but it gives everyone time to think about it and or plan for it.

Charles can and probably will retire 6-30-09 and this could be his retirement party. Everyone loves to have a reason to party.......

Karen and I were talking about a road-trip next year this would make a great stop along the way!!!!!

I was thinking a few folks would get together and enjoy the cool mountain air.
I had no idea so many would be interested.
The more the merrier.
There is a chance we may need to reserve 2 campgrounds if the numbers keep growing.
I'll start thinking of some dates. It will need to be the earlier part of July for me (work).

I would appreciate any ideas/suggestions as to what days folks would be interested in and how many days. I know a weekend will need to be included in the dates to allow for less days off work for some.

I'm excited so many are interested.

I don't want to disappoint anyone but I don't put on a big gig like IRG, ITG or madjacks birthday party.

I just like to make reservations, invite friends (old and new) and kick back and have a great time.

I rember going to Cloudcroft as a boy and loving it.

There is one WARNING thought if you have HEART problems be aware it is at 9000 feet. Albuquerque is at 5000 feet. bring your oxigen. Also as a note if you get dizy climbing at any higher altitude get your head down to the ground there is more oxigen at you foot level. When I went to high school in Alb. the apponents from Hobbs had to get on the floor to get there breath back and of course we won the game.

The problem at those altitudes is oxigen, I now live at sea level and when I lived in Alb. had more red cells to keep me going and have sence lost them.
This is not ment to scare anyone if your not moving fast you will be ok.
Cloudcroft is a buetiful place... it really is.

I want to go loved the area and so far have had not heart problems but it is to far away in time for me to consider at this time.

I missed meeting Corey last time I have to check my axel first and did want to return to Northern nm, AZ this might be the excuse I was looking for?

Ron I didn't know you live here. I totally forgot about the altitude sickness some people get when they come here. It's a good thing you warned them.

Yes, it is a good thing you mentioned the altitude. I was very ill for a few days after visiting Volcano (Mt. Haleakala) in Hawaii. Luckily, there was a nurse on the tour with me who was able to help, but I've been very careful when traveling to higher elevations because of that one incident. I experienced it (AS) in Colorado and Mexico City as well, but was better prepared and was able to pace myself so I didn't get so physically sick and really weak in the limbs. It will also affect your cooking....keep that in mind when baking your food.

OK folks, I hope to get some immediate feedback.

I checked on reserving a campground.
As of 9:30 pm CST the lower fir camground was available for the dates below.

I do not want to reserve untill I get some feedback. Please let me know your thoughts or plans ASAP.

I'm looking at Thursday, July 2, 2009 through Saturday, July 4, 2009. This would have us leaving out on Sunday.
Does this sound like enough time or should I add one more day (Sunday)?
The maximum number of trailers is 20
If all sites are filled and there are more than 30 people in attendance this breaks down to $5 per night per site.

I did not make the reservation as it has to be paid in full when reserving.
We do not mind doing this but we would need some sort of deposit from those that plan to attend.
I don't think I would be asking too much for the full amount as a deposit ($15.00 for 3 nights)

If I get enough feedback I can go back in and reserve Monday evening and give cc number.
