and then guess what? Low last night in OKC was EIGHT DEGREES !!! brrrrr and now we have an 80% chance of snow/sleet for this weekend, they say probably 3" .... on top of all this ice still on the secondary and residential roads. Highways are pretty good. Two schools had roof collapses , one a fire. OKC area schools out again today and likely all week from the look of it.

Thanks for everybody thinking about us all !!!

Ya think maybe the dirt road into town will be thawed by then? We have to go a little more than 5 miles to get to a road thats been partly cleared. Its been real fun.

And just wait..... now that the sun peeked out for a little bit, my street and several other areas are black ice now and slippery than ever !!!
and Friday night / Saturday , central and s.w. oklahoma are supposed to get 4-6" of snow / sleet again !!!!!

This is going to be a mess.... I guess Thursday night will be another run to the grocery and Blockbuster

Not to rub it in, but this morning it was 41 degrees here. Compared to everywhere north of San Antonio, I am living in freekin' Paradise!
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Tony, I'm a lot further north than you (Lufkin) and our temp is 40 at 1pm. 10 degrees sure makes a big difference in how big of a fire you need in the fireplace and how many layers of clothes you put on to work in the shop.
I actually got too warm in my shop and came in to shed a layer.

I think we are having a heat wave today.

Ten degrees does make a huge difference. I hope you folk facing several days (months?) of cold can keep warm enought to keep from freezin' your iddy biddys off. I hate cold weather, and that includes any temperature under 70 degrees!

Linda--by the way . . . I know our great state of Texas is large, but aren't we in the same time zone? I seem to be an hour behind you (no wisecracks about being years behind mentally!)?

EDIT BY ME--Never mind--just noticed my computer is also an hour ahead, so you were probably just rounding up.

Tony
It is 30 degrees in NE Iowa today We are not worried too much about cold in the weeks and months ahead as this week is the first winter we have had and still only about 3" of snow. Our temps have been consistently in the 40's and 50's and even 60's with no snow so far all winter. It can be below zero for the next month and we would still be ahead of a normal winter.

I called my daughter in Durant this morning expecting it to be nasty there. She says they have had no rain, snow, ice. Just a little cold. I was surpised after watching the news and reading your posts.
By the way I may make it to Beaver's Bend this year. Just can't plan anything that far in advance.

It has been a real mess here in central Mo. No power, water, heat for 5 days. Got it back last night. Another round coming Sat.
Has been a winter camping trip, only it was in my house. All the camp stoves, lights came in handy. Sit around the campfire in the fireplace. I did miss not having a shower for several days.
I hope the next round is not as bad.

Thanks Linda and all.....

I know I do, as most of us, that if you wait a minute the weather will change. The day before this stuff started, Thursday a week ago, I carried my light jacket back in from lunch break and had on a short sleeve shirt and it was nice outside ! sunny !

then this stuff....

so I wouldn't be surprised if we have 70* in a couple of weeks

hahaha

I * still * like the change of seasons !

Well it looks like the mega snow storm we were supposed to get this weekend kinda fizzled out.
At least here in Tulsa. If anything, the little bit of rain we did get served to wash the remaining ice off the streets.
Now the warm weather is more than welcome to head this way.

Yeah, I think the weathermen were *** ing off and got too excited... it was going to be 8, then 10 then 12" of snow on Saturday....
then Saturday came and was nothing but a steady rain for about 6 hours. It was messy and cold but only a trace of snow that late evening.

I still have inches of ice on parts of my sidewalk and driveway and I don't know if the yard will ever thaw out !!!

10-20-10 works pretty good to thaw some of that so maybe I'll fertilize the yard.....
