some drunk guy came by 15 minutes after we got home. I heard him squeeling the tires down the street. I was in the house and Jackie was by the truck when he went by then ,for some reason he slammed his truck in reverse and smashed the trailer then took off. Luckily the neighbors got his license and description. Daughter and son in law got home right after while police were there. Torns out son in law works with this guy and says he is a notorious drunk and idiot he works with. No license but truck and insurance are in girlfriends name. Cop says shes liable. The gur got 3 tickets from the cop but not dui because he was already in the house. I dont know what to value the trailer. Frame is bent and twisted at least a foot. I had a hard time backing in the yard. Shook Jackie up pretty bad but, luckily she is ok
If anyone saw the trailer I would appreciate opinions. Hope to get enough for another trailer by spring

I'm glad to hear that Jackie was not hit. Sorry to see your hard work damaged. I hope that everything works out for you.

Man oh man...that just sucks... Did you have the TD insured yourself in case they try to pull a fast one on you; that way you can get paid and your company can subrogate against the other party? On the value... I would fight for EVERY bit of $6000 or whatever you think it's worth. I have an earlier post on here about what I spent to build my trailer, it might help you in itemizing parts, etc. out. Furthermore, go visit CampInn, GatorTears, SoCal Tear, etc... and start printing off their website; this will be proof TearDrops can be worth well more than $6k. You might also just do a search for "ForSale" TearDrops and see what people are asking.. I bet $6k is a pretty good number +/-. If they scream and yell, fight all the way to arbitration, however, remember, the rule in arbitration is final. I'm sure the "big" builders on this forum might help you out with a letter of what a good homebuilt trailer is worth. I'd be happy to re-itemize my build for you if you think it might help you out.
