If you had only a few days to spend in Arkansas what would you not miss. I will be traveling for about two weeks starting the week after Labor Day. We have some plans on the way down to Branson but we have a week after that and want to spend a few days in Arkansas. We have been down Hyw 7 and have been to Devils Den, but where else is a must see.
Thanks

My recommendation would be the northern part of the state, especially along the Buffalo Nat. River. Buffalo Point campground is a very nice place to go.

I have a few links:

http://www.arkansas.com/

http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/

http://www.adventurestateparks.com/

I know these are commercial sites. If you like hiking the Buffilo River Trail is great hike and see some very NICE views of rivers and valleys and forest.

If you are driving I would stop at the roadside spots with slag glass. They sell it by the pound and it's in all colors. I love the light blue. My gparents had a huge piece at the entrance to their driveway --a long time ago.

Eureka Springs is sure pretty.

I have Pictures of the New Lake Fort Smith Park and RV campgrounds / pool / boat rental / boat launch ramp. 8)

The park is open and ready to visit. If you remember to OLD park locatiion. Well it is now 6 mile North of the old Turn-off to the old park location. The new park location is near Artist Point on Senic Hwy 71 North of Mountainburg, AR or if you are on the New I-540 the last exit would be at Chester,Ar exit on I-540 Hwy. Then north on Senic Hwy 71 about 3 miles. sign and turnoff on the right hand side as you are heading north on Senic hwy 71 from Chester, AR exit of I-540. ;)

I will try to post pictures when I can download them to the laptop and connect to the internet. ;)

I was going to also suggest Lake Fort Smith state park; however, I haven't been to it since reconfiguration. Petit Jean is very nice and not too far away. If you get a little further south and east, the area around Lake Ouchita is also very nice.

As a former Hot Springs, AR resident, I'd also recommend seeing Hot Springs, especially bathhouses in HS national park and the historical downtown.

Thanks to everyone, if the weather is still clear watch for a green mini van from Wisconsin pulling an aluminum teardrop. We are leaving in the morning and spending the first week in Missouri. Just exactly where is anyones guess. We will go which ever direction has the best weather. So if you see us just wave and if you wave hard enough we will stop and visit.
