Stop the press Jack!!!
I've been doin' a bit more homework and research on your fine state and I honestly feel that a different name for the gathering would be better...
Now I may be tucked away up here in the big trees, kinda isolated like... but I've never heard about the cypresswood trees down there. I did read that the bald cypress is the state tree, though...
When I think of Louisiana... gators, swamps and Cajun everything comes to mind.
I also read that the state flower is the magnolia and that the state bird is the brown pelican... (Is that 'cause it's the gator's favorite food?) Also read that the state colors are blue, gold and white. The flower and the bird didn't make much of an impact on me, but the state colors gave me some direction...
I say go with a name that puts you better on the map, or choose something that has to do with your locale that people will recognize in a flash!
I've been playin' with some stuff again and in keeping with what we've already came up with, I'm workin' onna LTG logo (Louisiana Teardrop Gathering) in blue, gold and white of course...
I've been tryin' to come up with a good catch phrase to capture the Cajun flavor... but I think I could use a little hep on dat one.
As for white, I say use that as the background color, to keep costs down and go with blue and gold on the logo...
I'll post a rough draft shortly.
I also read that ya'll don't have counties down there... call 'em parishes instead. I was a bit confused about all the parish this and that when Katrina hit, but I'm clear onnit now...

Jack,
Here's a rough draft...
Image

This will be your second gathering, right?
Was your first one in Texas or Louisiana?
If it was LA, this will work...
Image

If it was in Texas, here's next year's logo...

Dean, the logo looks great but the second letter is an "I" for Bistineau.

 Cool, I didn't want anybody to show up at the bastard cousin of Bistineau by mistake...... Could've been a logistical and vendor nightmare.

Dean, the star on the La. State picture has gotta go...that is a Texas thing both for the State and the Dallas Cowboys(no offense to either of our BIG ol' neighbors)...wouldn't have a Fleur de Lies you could replace it with would ya...

I'll get right to it after I get back, gotta head into town for a bit...
That is a good idea and you know... Why haven't they ever switched their team colors to blue and gold???
Man... They'd look so cool, they'd put the syke on all the other teams and win the Super Bowl fur sure...

...However, I would rather have something that featured Cypress trees which are almost as tall as red woods and have a similar girth at the base(very old growth) and gators and spanish moss..play around with it and we will get some opinions from the rest of the usual suspects.........
madjack 8)
p.s. we aslo kinda have a group...The South Central Tears, as in,
The South Central Tears
presents the First Annual
Louisiana Cypresswood Gathering
Lake Bistineau State Park Oct. 27-29
Doyline La.
Laissez les Bonton Rouler

I know that is too much verbage but you get the idea anyway...doancha..............MJ

dadgummit....this getting complicated....all I wanted to do was go camping with friends

Blue, gold and white are good... (Saints should do the same)

Nix the star and go with a Fleur de Lies...

Work in a bottle neck cypresswood with moss hangin' down... (Betcha didn't know that I knew they were called bottlenecks...)

Maybe a gator too...

Nix ICG and LTG... Go wid LCG...

Laissez les Bonton Rouler... in quotes as a cath phrase...

An SCT Production...

Gottit!!!
