Lake Ray Roberts in December?

Last year, we each brought a wrapped gift (spoof gift or nice gift, doesn't matter). We drew for gifts. I forget what the game was called, but it worked and it was fun.

Just some suggestions:

We could add a Christmas decorating contest...OK Jewel, do you want to try for #1 in two seasonal categories :D .

As far as the pot luck, decide whether you are bring a meat, side dish or desert. Let's think, "moderation" as far as portions so that we don't have a lot left over.

So what's the list of attendees?

I know some are waiting on weather, and other seasonal commitments, but also some at LCG mentioned they would at least show up for the potluck and visit since they are so close .

I'm 50/50 that I"ll be there.
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

Here's a thought. To keep from having too much food, consider volunteering for one of these.

2 people bring 1 chicken each (fried, baked, smoked, etc.)
1 person small portion of beef (brisket or roast or whatever)
1 person small portion of PORK (roast, ham, chops, or whatever)
2 people bread (cornbread, french, bisquits...)
2 people - regular desert
1 person - sugar-free desert
2 people - plastic ware and napkins
1 person - cups
2 people - a gallon of a beverage (tea or, punch or, soda: diet and regular)
1 person bring a festive tablecloth

***Everyone else bring a small portioned side dish (will feed 4-5 people). People seem to always get small samples of each dish so that they can taste everyone's food. That is why I suggested a small portioned side dish.

If I missed something, let me know.

I would love to be there. That weekend is 'trappers camp' and my hubby and son Lucas will be gone. I'll probably get to stay home and take care of the cattle and hogs. Oh joy....

Lists, lists, and more lists

Postby Cindy » Sun Nov 04, 2007 10:47 pm

Todah, all I have to say is "My dad drinks coffee!" I am too right brained to think about what food I am fixing in December. I have bought my present though!

First, I'd like to say, Mrs. Tucker shortening comes in a cardboard tube..

Secondly, yes, I know about the early deal. The food list will come in handy as we get closer.

Thirdly, and in conclusion, as for your gift, I can't wait to see it. I know that we'll have many chuckles about it.

Karol,

If I were you, I'd "herd 'em up and move 'em out" bring the herd with you to DuBois. You will be missed. We missed you at Bistineau this year, but I know how it is. I got sick last year and missed out. Hopefully we'll get to see you soon.
