Oh, you mean those kids that run around screaming at the top of their lungs, hacking on live trees with their hatchets, running through other peoples campsites and triping over their tent stakes while their leaders have a beer drinking marathon? Is that who you mean? :x

I don't have a Teardrop yet but would love to make a trip to Inks Lake to take some pictures and get some ideas.

Would this be O.K. with everyone?

I do have a buddy that is in the process of building one from the Big Woody website. He will more than likely have his either done or very close to being done by then.

Thanks

Sure Keith! Everyone would be glad you came down and looked and took pictures and ask questions. Nothing like trying one out and see it in person to get you started.

Keith come on over!!! The best thing you can do is come over, look at a few, but you also need to actually lift a hatch, pick up a tongue and LAY DOWN in one to get a real feel for a teardrop.....

Today I made a quick recon trip to Inks Lake. I am on vacation and don't have a way to download photos, but I will post a few (only took a few) pictures to give a taste of the park when I get back to Corpus this weekend or the first of next week. Lots of beautiful campsites. It's a jewel of a park with water and hiking trails. For the tent campers and new campers, there are lots of tent sites and lots of new one-room cabins that look wonderful.

For the early arrivals, I think the water sites at the end of the park, sites 238-250 and all the water side sites 232-240 and 258-276 will be great to snag. Not a bad site among 'em. Some have less shade and trees, but all okay. Another area that has some water sites (but not all) would be a good group area--sites 41-55. Another group area and close proximity to the park store and boat ramp--sites 83-94, but would probably be hi traffic area. All these sites have water and electric.

The other end of the park would be good for those who want a little more privacy (the 300 and up sites), but water only--no electric. They are really set up for tents and the parking sites are smaller, but usuable.

If we get some good weather, this should be great. Here it is a Thursday in August and the park was less than half full. It even looked like some water sites were available. We're gonna have fun.

Try calling the central reservation center in Austin @ 512-389-8900. Sometimes the info on reserve America is not correct for Texas State Parks.

Woody

I hope the information is correct; if not please post changes.

I hope this helps. I'm not sure IF I can make this one because of lost days for surgery against remaining vacation time left.
