Wow, I was one of the furthest away and the first to post something of the event?!?!? Well, we arrived at about 10:30 Friday morning, got set up and then was told we had to move to a different camping area (super long story.............) and it pretty much rained all day and night. Saturday morning, Anna, I and the dogs went on a 6-mile hike to the Lighthouse spires in the canyon. The weather was cloudy but we didn't have any rain to mess anything up.

Okay, what I did was drove all the way down there without a memory card in my camera so all my pics (all 12) are of the hike we did. Nothing of the gathering................. don't ask me how I did that :x

Had a great time at Palo Duro, Friday afternoon during the rain was a good time to catch up on some reading and movie watching and good conversation. Saturday started out with a good breakfast and coffee with Gary and Trudy. A few sprinkles Saturday with no real rain. Saturday ended with a great dinner and campfire. Sunday dawned with real nice weather. By noon there was only three of us left with most getting an early start. Those of us left were from Amarillo, Littlefield, and Plainview, so no hurry! Enjoyed visiting with everyone and had a great time, Thanks Ed and Ruby for Frito Pie and bar b que and for cordinating the whole thing. Ronnie

I'm back home.

Danny, Friday was horrible up until about 7 PM. We did manage to get a fire going, though. Friday night was good sleeping weather -- not heater or AC needed.

Saturday was pleasant. Cloudy, but the temperature was about 70, and no wind or rain all day. No burn ban, so the Rayvillians could do their traditional breakfast feast. We had a big, hot fire Saturday night, and about 20 people around it. Saturday night was another good sleeping night, cool, but not cold.

Sunday morning was perfect.

Believe me, Friday sucked big time, but the rest of the weekend was fine.

Pictures at eleven. ;)

DOH, why didn't you say something. I had two kinds of spare memory cards with me -- SD and CF. You could have borrowed one.

We arrived home at 6:15. The trip was tiring, but so worth it.

The weekend did not start out so good: monsoon rains, local flooding, streams flowing thru campsites, high winds, torn up Easy-Ups, a screwed up state park computer system, and War Pony having to camp with a flock of wild turkeys. Not a great beginning. But, the South Central Tears did not let all this stand in the way of a good time. Many thanks to Ruby and Ed for all your hard work, and as always thanks to Trudy for another great breakfast. One question from the pot luck: what happened to the leftover falafel???

All kidding aside, we are truly the best kind of family. It was great to see everyone.

'till next time -

We got home about 7:30 pm. Would have been sooner except for lanes closed on 35W.

Thursday the weather was great, Friday sucked but Saturday and Sunday were good.

It was nice to have a campfire at P D Canyon.

It was great to see everyone again and make some new friends.

Thanks everyone for a great weekend.

Whoa, I never called anybody anything............

Yes, thanks to Ed and Ruby for the BBQ on Friday and lending us their campsite for the festive fires and thanks for Woodyperk, Vairman and Mike for all the firewood that kept us warm and toasty all weekend. The computer issues were one thing but hell, like we were saying....... you'll have to do worse than that to keep US from having a great time!!!!!! I personally want to thank all who attended and helped make this gathering happen  .

We had some setbacks all weekend but had a great time meeting new AND old friends......
