Al, wanted to contact you sooner but couldn't get on here. I am so sorry to hear about Pepe but he seemed to be miserable. I know how hard it is for you. See you in Sept.
Was so glad to see everyone even tho the rain kept us from doing much on Fri. but got to spend the day with Pam. The picture is great as always but I do notice some missing faces.
Was nice to meet some new friends. Looking forward to getting back to camping with everyone.

Hey, it was good seeing you all and meeting new people. Glad everyone made it home OK. if not necessarily uneventfully. I got in yesterday (Wednesday) after taking a grand tour of OK, KS & CO. I hadn't been in Oklahoma before and wanted to see more. Somewhere west of OKC, the weather started looking pretty threatening, so headed north to avoid the rain. :rainy: That's how I got to Kansas. First time there, too. This trip was my first chance to try drive-camp-drive-camp travel. It worked out pretty well. State parks are nearly empty on weekday nights. If you're tired enough of driving, the big rig idling next door at the rest stop isn't much of a bother for long.

See y'all next year if not sooner! Sooner. Get it?

Brad, I've always wanted to do the drive - camp -drive - camp thing and I feel like now I am in a position where I could do it if I wanted to. With all the gatherings that are on the board so far, I still have 8 days of vacation left! I thought I had three weeks, but I looked and realized that I actually have 4 weeks of vacation that I can take! My first will probably be in the South and East since heading West takes longer, but I still want to do that as well!

I get to put drive-camp-drive to the acid test soon. I owe my son a trip to Kahleefoornya to see the grandkids. Hopefully also get to see my desert camping buddies and get off the pavement. Having a place to take a nap :goodnight: sure does help keep you on the road. :vroom:

[edit-added]
And, if you're setting a leisurely pace, coffee and breakfast at the campsite is a great way to welcome the day.

Check the u bolts or axle brackets and grease the bearings and I bet everything will go smoothly!! I was looking at Woodys idea to head West on google maps last night trying to also make it to my dads with no more than a four hour leap, it got to be alot of four hour leaps! Haha!!

4 hour leaps is how I got to BB. Overnight at Purtis Creek SP and on to BB the next day. Way better than up at the crack and arrive in the dark.

When I was heading to Beaver's Bend I realized that I tend to go up and down Hwy 19 alot and there are quite a few State parks within a few miles off that highway...

From the Sam Houston National Forest just North of Houston, to the Davy Crockett National forest, Fairfield State Park, Purtis Creek, Lake Tawakoni, Cooper Lake, Pat Mayse, Hugo Lake, OK there's a nice little run!
