I'm going to look into this. I would love to camp at Palo Duro. I just need to see if I can do it. I work like crazy for a few weeks at a time, and then have a few weeks of not much to do. I just need to see where this falls in the cycle.

If it looks possible, I'll reserve a space, and if I can't make it, well, that's the way life works, for me.

Caseydog, Hope you can make it. We have been talking to the nice people at Palo Duro Canyon about reserving specific spaces ahead of time. They told us to talk to Bernice Blasingame, who seems to be the one to make these decisions. The best she will offer is to let us get the spaces Thurdsay, May 15. If we have everyone's reservations earlier, I will try to get them sooner. If not we will go out there at 8:00 am ( opening time)Thursday and get the spaces, come home and post them as soon as possible. The park opens at 8:00 am and closes at 10:00 pm. If that is a problem for any one let us know and we will see what we can arrange. So far we have reservation information(name & number) for
Woody& Tammy
Robert & Connie
James & Amy
Ed & Ruby
Dave & Cindy
Greg & Terri
Texas Tear#1
Texas Tear #2
Texas Tear #3
Casey Dog

Todah
Ivar the Red

If anyone else has sent the information and we did not get it please send us a pm. We are hoping to be out there camping by Thursday afternoon.By the way cell phones do not work in the canyon. If you drive back up to the entrance they will work there. Let's go camping :shake hands: :Flippin Burger: :campfire: Ed & Ruby

I don't imagine reservations cost much. I guess I can go ahead and make mine. If, by some chance, I can't go, then just use my space for something else.

Heck, spill some beer on my space, and it will be just like I was there.

I'll let you know in the next day or two.

Hey this is great! Glad to see folks coming to the Panhandle. Hope you bring some rain.

Ed, are you aiming to steer people toward any one of the 3 water/electricity sites: Hackberry, Mesquite, or Juniper? I'm going to make my reservations and it asks for my preference, and I don't really have a preference. Just wondering if anybody was trying to gather in one place or another.

I think I can promise at least three more teardrops to show up.

(edit) Never mind, I see that the reservations are non-site specific. I will PM Ed&Ruby with our reservation numbers.

Yes, thanks for the link. I had to see how far it was and how long it would take to get there. It looks like a 5 hour trip.

Count me in! I'll try to make my reservations today or tomorrow. What area should I specify when I make may reservations?

Todah, This is Ruby on Ed's sign in. I am so glad you are going to make it to the gathering. They have told us they will not give us assigned sights any earlier than Thursday , May 15. We will be there when the park opens to get every one's spaces together and we will come back home to post it as soon as possible. If you do not get to see the post, they will tell you at the gate where the teardrops are camping.Scott said he thinks he got a reservation in the Sagebrush area but so for has not received a sight number or his reservation number. If he does get a camp sight number I will call and ask they if we can get assigned spaces for the rest of us. Some of us have tried and it will ask you for preferred camp ground ( there are three Sagebrush,Hackberry and Mesquite) then it will come back and say reservations are non specific. We have enough campers that I will talk to the head lady again on Monday before the camp out to try to get assigned spaces as early as possible. Also if you are arriving after the park closes let us know and we are going to talk to a guy about getting the late comers in the gate. Can hardly wait. Ruby & Ed

Hello Ruby,

I am excited about the trip too! I'll finally get to see what Ed and your "neck of the woods" is like. I am glad to see that South Central is doing what we talked about last year. We have started to plan gatherings in everyone's area so that the same people don't have to take a long trek all the time.

I still haven't solidified where I'll be teaching this summer, but I figured, I can get another gathering in before the summer begins.

I look forward to seeing you all! Thanks for making the arrangements.

Well Girls and Guys, it is getting close to time and we can hardly wait. We have 12 campers so far. Brenda had knee surgery and they may not spend the night but plan to try to come down and spend the day Saturday. Mike & Brenda want to meet everyone and I know everyone wants to meet them. I guess it is time to start thinking about food :picnic: . Terri and Ruby will serve breakfast Friday morning. Amy and Ruby will serve breakfast Saturday morning. For Friday evening we plan to have green chilie stew, chili cheese dogs, frito pie and chips for everyone at about 6:00 pm or as you arrive. Now for Saturday's pot luck here are some ideas we have, but as we are so close it will be easy for us to change or adapt if it looks like we will be short in any area. So here are the plans right now for us. Ed & Ruby- tamales, pork chops, hominy casserole, english pea salad and pasticho pudding. James & Amy- BBQ chicken wings, broccoli & cheese, rollls and a desert. The kiddos are doing smoores(not sure about the spelling) at some time or all the time. Whee Lets go camping. :Flippin Burger: :campfire: :running man: It rained yesterday and a little bit today but the 10 day forecast is looking great. It is cool at night so bring a jacket. We will be checking on the burn ban and on our camp sites and will keep you updated but they sure do like to wait till the last minute to let us get our camping sites. :ilovecamp: Ed & Ruby
