CD, this is your and Julie's show, so do it like you wanna...I like the corporate swag idea, we give "them" enough onna regular basis so it is VERY GOOD to get something back from "them"...

I tried to make it clear last year that no one had to bring anything for the door prizes but people being people, sometimes just like to give...if that is so, BE SURE to get hold of CD or Julie ahead of time, so they can plan for it...the very last thing I want is for any of this to be stressfull...that is the opposite of what I want the LCG to be...which is a good, laid back, relaxing time to be had by all...

Okie-dokie!

Here are my suggestions for guidelines...

1. Gifts can come from individuals or companies, but NOBODY is required to donate a gift.

2. Every person who attends will receive one drawing ticket. No purchase or donation required. In a family of four, all four will get a ticket. No, you can't have a ticket for your pet.

3. Donations should be new items that anyone could use (don't clean out your garage and donate that counterclockwise fan motor you didn't use on your build  ). Homemade items that fit the "anyone can use" description are okay, too.

4. Please, no more than three of any one item -- at the most.

5. You MUST notify Julie (Oklahomajewel) or Glenn (caseydog) of your intent to bring a donation, and what it will be, at least ten days before LCG III. I suggest you tell us what you plan to donate before you buy it, just in case other donors have the same idea. This is very important in order to be sure Julie and I do not get stressed out, as MJ says. ;)

I will call on some corporate PR people about products, books, etc. again this year.

...that sounds excellent to me...and let me further state...NO ONE IS REQUIRED, OBLIGATED OR EXPECTED TO MAKE A DOOR PRIZE DONATION...I just can't figure why you are picking on Harvey ;) ;) ;)

It did get a bit lengthy last time but that's a good thing right? :)

I don't know if it would be more work or less for the committee. At ITG, the actual drawings were done offline, then everybody would come back at a certain time to pick up their prize. It may have worked OK but it wasn't as fun. Maybe a hybrid can be done where all but 3-5 "Grand Prizes" are drawn. Then, those prizes can be drawn during the potluck.

I have a feeling that at ITG, they probably went thru the numbers and everybody got a prize then the put them back in and started over. I wasn't involved so I'm just guessing. Maybe someone who was involved with the ITG drawings could elaborate.

...wasn't at the ITG(or the IRG) so can't comment on what they did, but since you had to pre-register and (I THINK) folks got a "registration" packet when they signed in at the event, tickets could have been included there and then...at the LCG, tickets were handed out to everyone that attended the pot luck...as they went thru the line, so a pre-drawing wouldn't work or would require more organization than I would like to see done.....K.I.S.S. should guide all things

Let me see if I can get this right---at ITG the camper donated prizes were numbered and you matched up your ticket to the prize. For larger prizes everyone had free tickets and could buy tickets (to offset expenses) and these were put in boxes in front of the prizes. Those were drawn by a committee and again matched up. It worked well for the crowd but seemed like a lot of work for the organizers.

That IRG method sounds too much like work. And it doesn't sound very fun, either.

As long as we know what's being donated in advance, we can make a list, and draw from the list. That'll keep things moving, so we can get the drawing done before dark -- and keep everyone interested.

Like MJ says, let's just keep it simple and fun. :D

Okay .... I'll step up on the soapbox and just give my 2 cents worth....

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if we didn't have any kind of drawing... BUT people seemed to like it last year, I'll admit it went kind of long... would've been nice if we could have given away a couple of those cars that drove by us !! haha

I'm thinking .... one prize donation per CAMPSITE , not per person... that might help moneywise on some folks too.

Try to limit items to really usuable CAMPING or other items, not necessarily teardrop building hardware since 99% of us already have teardrops. By email me with what you intend to bring will help avoid too much duplication.

I think all the items could be on a table around dinner time, then me/CD or whoever, will pick campsite #'s according to donated and place the winning campsite # on the item itself and then after dinner , the campers would pick up their gift.

The awards for Decor, people's choice and whatever ever other "awards" could be done as a presentation but not necessarily all the gifts.

If anyone wants a list of prize donation ideas, that could PM me or CD for ideas. I know myself and others don't have access to getting donations from big companies.

LOVE,
Julie
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

I was talking about drawing tickets -- each person in attendance gets one ticket for the drawing. That's what we did last year.

Also, last year, MadJack did the awards presentation after the drawings were done. That seemed to work out okay.

...let me say this again, so there is no misunderstanding....

NO ONE IS EXPECTED TO, OR OBLIGATED TO MAKE A DONATION FOR THE DOOR PRIZES................................

CD is hitting up some corporate donors and if anyone else wishes to donate an item, that is fine as well...if you do, be sure and give Julie or CD a heads up before the LCG, so they can plan accordingly...for me, I am happy just to have y'all show up and help me celebrate my birthday...this one is the big double nickel...TYVM..............

I forgot about the tickets, that alone will make it a lot more work. At IRG, Dean would give tickets for whatever, participating in a contest, winning a contest, helping with a dinner, etc. At ITG, I everybody got a certain number of tickets. If you wanted to, you could buy more tickets. LCG has a good system, it may run long but that just gives everybody a chance. With a group that big, it's bound to happen.

Uhhh..mmm - - - I don't remember havin' ANYTHING to do with that last year, 'cept maybe the affair wuz conducted on my deck?? :D Oh yeah, I did donate the shower shelter door prize, think I called it th' #*%@! prize tho. I even warned the winner Linda Smelly that her husband would probably be cussin' my name forevermore after tryin' to erect that thing. One good thing, Danny has that site this year so we should expect non-stop laughs th' whole time ;) .

Glad no one's expected to make a donation, & I won't be contributing another 'shower shelter from he!!' so everyone's safe. Unless of course, I happen onto another TD device that's irresistable at first look. In that case I'll be sure to advise CD or OJ in plenty of time
